Hi,

We know about Kishore's family:
Wife: Leena, Sons: Sumit, Amit.

Any idea about Rafi's family ?

Long back DoorDarshanIndia had shown an interview with Mohd. Rafi.
The interviwer asked Rafi how he met his wife and guess what!!
Rafi_ji blushed and said 'Yeh kya pooch rahein hain aap' with his
famous smile.

Is there any interview of Mohd.Rafi on the net ??

His son's name was Shahid Rafi, afair. I also think that he was
either studying medicine or had become a doctor or something...

Shahid Rafi also tried his voice at singing. He held some shows in Mumbai,
but was a flop.
One son was a pilot in England.

Rafi is survived by his wife , two daughters, three sons. They live in
Bandra, Bombay.
Mohd.Shahid is the only one who is interested in music/singing. His wife
runs a zari embroidery shop and is assisted by one of the daughters.

This is interesting. I remember hearing the {apocryphal??} story that
Rafi
asked his songs not to go into singing. Too unsafe a way to earn one's
livelihood. And so he encouraged him for his medicine thing.

Later,
Ikram.

There is an audio cassette featuring four singers, viz., Khalid
Mehmood, Nitin Mukesh, Amit Kumar, and Shahid Rafi. The cassette,
titled SINGIN FATHERS SINGING SONS has introductory lines (rather,
almost half of one side) by Dilip Kumar. Not that I mind that deep,
resonant voice at all! If you can catch hol of the cassette, go for it
by all means. It is a collectors' item, if for nothing else.

Ikram:
So Rafi really wanted his "songs" to go mum! OK. I will stop singing
that Rafi-yodelling song :-)

Pradeep
