Tongue-knotting songs in Hindi films

Hi RMIM-ers,
I was trying to roast a few pre-half-cooked chapatis on my
Nirlep non-stick when I remembered this tongue-twister from
my salad days:
Betty bought a bit of butter
But the bit of butter Betty bought was bitter
So, Betty bought a bit of better butter
To turn the bit of bitter butter Betty bought
To a bit of better butter.
And then, quite inexplicably, this song came to mind:

jaaN use do jo dil de de
"Remarkably tongue-twisting," said my friend (with his
mouth full of the chapati that had just come off the Nirlep).
"Who's sung it?"
"Rafi, of course," I said, "and, I think, Sulakshana Pandit.
That's mine," I added, snatching the second chapati back from him.
Wouldn't it be nice to have a list of tongue-twister songs
on RMIM?
I can't think of any more real tongue-twisters except for
"teetar ke do aage teetar, teetar ke do peechhe teetar"
from Mera Naam Joker, and that too doesn't knot your tongue
that much, actually.

Well this reminds me, in fact there was a very sidey film song that
goes :
Chusaungi chusnee se chaat chalo ji chalo chandni chowk mein.
The movie was Police Public some sort of a Hercule Poirot movie with
a 50 year old Rajkumar (are haan jaani) as the dick (no puns intended).
Maybe someone can add the pstats!

Thank you, Sami, for reminding me of this wonderful song. The song
is from Love in Simla, *ing Joy Mukherjee, Sadhana, A Sidey-Female,
and Brother-of-Sidey female in the main roles, besides other
actors. The movie has a story-line faintly reminscent of one
of those PGW stories ... Joy-baba is engaged to the sidey female,
who is a snoot, a snob and an upturned-nose. Sadhana is her>
maid-in-waiting or something like that. Sadhana is one of those
girls influenced by women's lib or something like that and
prefers to wear extremely austere and unattractive clothes
(which, in Bollywood means women wearing pant-shirt-naak-pe-chashma)
:-) :-) ... one day the brother-of-sidey female (hereinafter
termed 'bosf') is trying to learn his Urdu lesson by rote ...
repeating 'alif, alif zabar aa, alif zEr e, alif pesh O'
repeatedly faltering at one of these ... and says within earshot
of our Joy-baba "uff! yeh Urdu kitni mushkil zubaan hai"
Joy: "mushkil nahiN, aasaan hai. zara dikhao to idhar kya paD.h
rahe ho" (or something to that effect) ...
and then Rafi saheb's Urdu lesson starts, with Asha playbacking
for the bosf kid. ;-)
It does deserve to be in this list, I guess.
It's an amazing song, really. D'you have a recording of this
song, Sami-bhai?
The MD is Iqbal Qureshi, I think. The same man who MD'd for
Naqli Nawab (?) which has the wonderful Rafi song "tum poochhte
ho ishq bhala hai ke nahiN hai, kyaa jaane tumheiN KHauf-e-KHuda
hai ke nahiN HAI" (I remember a discussion that I had about this
song with Sanjeev).
Don't know the lyricist though.

To complete the P-stats, the lyricist is Rajinder Krishan, perhaps our most
versatile song-writer. According to HMV, the singer is Rafi, but a female
voice joins him when the mukhaDaa is repeated later in the song, perhaps Asha
Bhosle. 'Love In Simla' was the debut film for the lead pair, Sadhana and
Joy Mukherjee; and perhaps also for the director, RK Nayyar, who later married
Sadhana. (He passed away recently.)
The music of 'Love In Simla' was perhaps one of the earliest of its kind. It
followed the tradition set by OPN in 'Tum Sa Nahin Dekha' and continued by
Usha Khanna in 'Dil Deke Dekho), the tradition of romantic music propelled by
Rafi and Asha. The innovation by Iqbal Qureshi was to add a quirky Mukesh
song, which gave an interesting flavour to the stew: in this case the solo
"dar pe aaye the kasam sse (?)" It served as a template for all manner of
MDs, e.g. S-J ('Junglee', 'Singapore,' 'Sasural') and K-A ('Bluff Master.')
Around 1970, if one were to rank the neglected MDs, the top echelon would
perhaps g to Jaidev, Khayyam, and N. Dutta. In the next level would come
MDs like C. Arjun, Dattaram, and Iqbal Qureshi. 'Love In Simla' is perhaps
the cloest Iqbal Qureshi got to an A-budget film, with commensurate publicity
and distribution. Musically, I'd rate his best film to be 'Cha Cha Cha.' A
few of his othr films with notable music are: 'Bindiya,' 'Banarasi Thug,'
'Umar Qaid,' 'Yeh Dil Kis Ko Dun,' 'Pyar Bana Afsana.'
