Cabbage-Brain at Works, Discovery # 2, Hawa Mein Udta Jaaye
(BARSAAT)

Please read the article on the song: Hawa Mein Udta Jaaye (Film:
BARSAAT)
at below listed link

1 The song was not picturized on NIMMI (listed in mini-box as:
Neemi), but
on Bimla. She is best remembered for lip-synching ALBELA's
(1951) great
lullaby: Dheere Se Aaja Ri Akhiyan Mein Nindiya (solo, as well as
the duet)

She can also be seen in SARGAM' (1950) song: Tu Chhed Sakhi
Sargam,
in the chorus part

2 Hawa Mein Udta certainly is not the best song of BARSAAT. The
honour goes
to film's title song: Barsaat Mein Hum Se Mile Tum. Few years
ago, I had posted
a write-up on this song, listing the 2 versions, 78 rpm and
soundtrack version
(has an additional para - Naino se jhaanke meri mast jawani and
was re-issued
on a tape titled: Hits from R K Studio or so). Other songs of
Barsaat which are
better than Hawa Mei, are:

Chhod Gaye Balam or Patli Kamar Hai

3 Mr. Raj Kapoor did not buy the studio, but built it on raw land.
Chembur, where it
is located, was a non-desirable location and at far-end of local
train Service's
Harbour-line.

p.s.: Mehboob built his studio in Bandra (even then a very expensive
location) after
great sucess of AAN

I agree that those writing for Hindustan Times have cabbage in their heads. I wish my favorite Nimmi many more years of life. She is still very much alive and good. It is shocking to read about her as a 'late actor'.

The song 'hawa mein udta jaaye' may not be the best among the film's other songs, but it remains the most popular.

I nominate "Jiya beqarar hai" as the best song from 1949 Barsat.
