I have few versions of this song, including one by Habib Wali Mohammad.
Can someone please tell me, as to who sang it first and around what
year ?
It seems this is the song around which lot of singers are trying to
build / re-build
their career. I find it to be just an o.k. song, nothing to rave
about.. Given the
choice, I would rather opt for the naughty-naughty girl, who is so
confident of
herself that has proclaimed:
Jaate Ho To Jao Par Jaoge Kahan
Babuji Tum Aesa Dil Paoge Kahan
Sudhir
While I have no clue who sang this Gazal first, I absolutely adore the
Farida Khanum version. For me her rendition of this song is way beyond
ok, its sublime. This is one of the first non-Pankaj Udhas gazals that
I was introduced to and I still remember the rapturous experience I had
the first time I heard it. (haven't heard Pankaj Udhas since then)
:-)Admittedly, my exposure to Gazals remains limited, however for me
this song will always be something to rave about.
I usually don't mind people coming up with their versions/remakes of an
artistic creation but I am appalled by Asha Bhosle's version in her new
ghastly album. Its about time she listened to herself critically before
jumping on an idea to record another album.
Hema.
Cheers,
I don't think it is a Gazal; is it really? Esp if you are running a
planet you should be strict about these oversights ...

Your gist is "it is not an easy Ghazal to sing eventhough (sic) it may
look like one.. (easy Ghazal to sing)."
If you didn't mean this, you punctuated it incorrectly; I cannot tell
what's running in your mind. There was no bitterness in my post either,
I think.
