There is this album of Talat Mahmood of private ghazals that include 'husn
jisrang main'(jiger muradabadi),'kaun kehta hai tujhe'(jaan nisaar akhtar) ,
naqsh fariyadi hai'(mirza ghalib) etc.. and many more.
Its a beautiful album with me since a long time now. surprisingly,there is no
mention of the music director on the album.can anyone help?is it possible that
they are composed by the singer himself?

release, titled "The Unforgettable Ghazals of Talat Mahmood", a superlative
collection of nazms ("kaun kehta hai tujhe..." mentioned below is also on it) that
I have. The CD does not mention the MDs for all of the ghazals on it, but it does
mention some - they are by different composers, like Khaiyyam, Taj Ahmed Khan (IIRC),
etc. In fact, I think Balaji had posted a pstat request on some of those a while ago.
Lemme go back to my CD and pull up the pstats on the ghazals on it- maybe a lot of
them coincide with the ones on yours..

I have seen a few older cassettes of Talat non-film songs, put out by HMV,
which didn't have any printing on the inlay. The list of songs is all the
cassette included. The same is true of the pirate cassettes. Of late,
HMV recordings do include at least partial information. Often, the music
director field is blank and sometimes the lyricist too. In these cases,
where some information is given, I suspect the information might have been
lost for good.
I remember seeing Talat himself as the composer for a few of his non-film
songs, but I am not very sure. Most of the non-film songs I have are
composed by Murli Manohar Swarup and Khaiyaam. (I have an HMV cassette,
where the two music directors are mentioned at the top, without assigning
credit by song!)
Of the three songs you mention, the Jigar song is a composition of Taj
Ahmed Khan. The other two are by Khaiyaam.
I wish all the success to Balaji and Hrishi's project of developing full
p-stats for Talat (and hopefully other) non-film songs.
