Another Pancham song lyrics. I think this is one of the few mother
songs sung by Asha, isn't it? At least I can't remember any. Or for
that matter I can't remember any Pancham mother song. It is not a
lorii. I find the slow rhythm very beautiful, it gives the song a very
close intimacy. You can picturise
the mother and the child in a alone in a big courtyard.

I haven't seen the movie and nor seen the song. Since I know the
synopsis of the movie, I presume it is Meena Kumari, on whom the song
is picturised. I can be mistaken, if yes, please correct it.

would be grateful for corrections.

Pramod:

Here are the corrected lyrics. Pl. take a good look at the changes
made so that it will help you in iTransing in the future. E.g.,
"ha.Nsii" = laughter, while "ha.Nsii.n" does not exist as a word in
Hindi. The other word is "hasiin" which means 'beatuiful'.

Kalrajii! Thank you! Dhanyavaad, Shukriiyaa!

I'm new to ITRANS and the more I try to understand it, the more it
seems to beocme complicated.

In this context I have some questions:
like for e.g., why is it dam and not dama and why sadaqe and not sadqe?

When do I put an a behind the conosonant and when not?

You have written phuuTii kalii, which I think is gramatically correct,
but when I listen to the song it does sound phu.nTii kalii. So do I
write down the way it is sung or the way it should have been sung? I
must admit though, if I would know which one was right.

It seems, I am forgetting all the Hindi that I'd learnt in twelve
years.

best regards
Pramod

Thank you Ketan for bringing it to my notice.
Never heard of the movie before not the song. But it seems to be famous
and mentioned at the imdb:

I think there are quite a few Pancham's mother songs. OTOMH, I can
think of "ba.Daa naTakhaT hai re" (Amar Prem) and "ek din ha.Nsaanaa"
(Benaam). Then you have "chaa.Ndanii re jhuum" (Naukar) a beautiful
mother/father song. Another father song is "ai mere beTe" (Aa Gale Lag
Ja). And if you believe in Aradhana being Pancham's soundtrack (!!!),
you have "cha.ndaa hai tuu, meraa suuraj".

Thanks for reminding! And right now enjoying "chaa.Ndanii re jhuum".
made my day! This song has such a serene quality to it. You feel like
jhuuming yourself and "and all is well in the Heavens"!

This is the quality of Lata's voice!! You can criticize her of many
things and then she sings like this and everything is forgiven and
forgotten!

Well, that doesn't count!!!

Well, we won't start on that now!
