The following biographies have been edited and abbreviated from notes supplied
by the sponsors:
"Pandit Debu Chaudhuri is a recipient of the prestigious Govt. of India award,
Padmabhushan, and the Sangeet Akademy Award for his contributions in the field
of music. He received his early training from the late Panchu Gopal Datta and
later for 38 years from Ustad Mushtaq Ali Khan of the Senia Gharana. He is
former Dean and Head of the Faculty of Music and Fine Arts at the University of
Delhi. He is the author of three books "Sitar and Its Techniques," "Music of
India," and "On Indian Music." He has recorded many albums with EMI, HMV, ABC
(USA), Maharishi Gandharva Ved, Rhythm House, and India Archive Music. He has
been a top-ranked artist of Door Darshan and All India Radio since 1971, having
performed for A.I.R. since 1948.
Prateek Chaudhuri, his son, is a Lecturer in the Department of Music at Delhi
University and an A Grade Artist at All India Radio and Door Darshan.
Anup Ghosh had his earlier training in tabla from Pt. Radhakanta Nandy, and
later studied with Pt. Shyamal Bose. He has accompanied many leading musicians
of India, and is a staff artist of All India Radio. He also has several CDs to
his credit."
