I don't know whether this fellow created it, or picked somewhere from
net. Received it at another mailing list. Posting for you. Give a try.

The hints are a lot, and the songs will be easy to guess. So just answer
based on your memory, don't search on the net. But we will never know if
you do.

Enjoy.

I dunno how many of you are into old hindi film songs, but for the
aficionados here's a trip down memory lane.. a Chhaya Geet quiz!

cheers

"vivekanand.sistla" <Vivekana...@UNILEVER.COM>
---------------------
1. She is on her way to meet her future mother-in-law. She just got out
ofjail. Waiting for the steamship, she spots the person she once loved
whomarried someone else abandoning her. She hears his side of the story
and istorn between him and her new love. The background song expresses
her decision.

2. Probably the most incredible beauty on the Indian screen. Never mind
for getting her, he can't even forget the night he saw her. Got the
song NO? This is the hero that we always wonder about as to how he gets
to act with such beautiful actresses and gets Rafi to sing for him. He
is singing in the studio and she is listening on the radio at home. The
movie was full of hit songs ofRoshan & Sahir. This one is a Rafi solo
but there is also a Lata / Rafi version

3. Whether she is a Princess or Plain Jane, Nutan excelled in all her
roles. Even as a plain Jane, someone is all out to give her everything
she wants. A telephone song ! Talat / Telephone but the MD is SDB not
Salil. Movie name ...It is the heroine's name in the movie.

4. Let's move from a Telephone song to a Bicycle song :).
Actually this one could have also made the 'Bird' song list. Now this is
not your regular bike song, this is a bike made for 2. Two pairs of
pedals and just like the 2 people pedaling in unison, the song starts
out as a unison duet. A perfect blending of Lata & Hemant K's voices set
to his own music. A very young happy queen of tragedy (no tears, for a
change) with Sunil Dutt. Oh there is also a kid in front who supplies
the much needed harmonica for the interludes. There are 'Koyals'
'Papihas' 'River banks' in the lyrics but of course there is none of
that in the scene itself. Palm trees are visible so may be there is
river out there somewhere :).

5. No tears in this either. She is still very happy and so is the other
King of tragedy. How did they do that, what a gem - The queen & king of
tragedy happy togeether in this one. It is a beautiful night... full
moon... Tents have been set up for the princess... two stars, meeting
not in the sky but on earth.

6. He is very happy, singing songs of his meeting with his beloved, on
his way to marry her, coming back from a "fair". Irony is that he passes
a doli procession going the other way .... his beloved has been married
off to some one else but he won't find that out till he reaches his
village. Mukesh solo.

7. Which came first? The chicken or the egg ? This movie was based on an
English movie (so what else is new ). We have re-makes of both English
and Hindi in later years... so which one was was based on which one?
This one is the older version B&W. It is moonlight, the hero in a
hammock hopes that she comes out and joins him. She does. The chemistry
between these two on screen is worth watching this oldie. A Manna Dey /
Lata duet.

8. A piano song. Someone has won and someone has lost. The ocassion
still calls to sing happy songs. The hero of 6. lost her to none other
but Raj Kapoor whom she always loved, just did not tell him. All three
are in this party scene:

9. She was well known for both her classical dances as well as her folk
dances. She is very much at ease here too with her dancing skills but
not in any ghagharas ! She keeps changing her costumes to surprise Raj
Kapoor who is totally shocked with her un-inhibited style ! She seems to
be enjoying herself thoroughly in the scene. Story revolves around a
Love triangle.

10. India's official colour should be the red of betel nut juice. It's
everywhere, on the walls, on the streets, and as this song describes,
even on nice satin clothes. No, it's not "khai ke paan" though it's
close. 'Tis a lovely actress, part of a troupe in the movie. The hero is
vow-ful. Yes, that is exactly how I wanted to spell it :) Mukesh had a
role in this movie too.

11. Why does one of the most talented film maker/actor of our
yesteryears chooses dumb roles for himself ? No, not Raj Kapoor. He is
mostly silent in this movie has no idea how much she loves him. She
tries to tell him exactly that with this song, making all kinds of
faces. he is totally oblivious! The main story however revolves around
Meena Kumari & Rehman. Our hero here was the servant.

12. Another song about a "colourful person." Set in London, same
actress, Ms.India? Not as poised as she should be, however. The hero
seems to be tending to another women. He is a "worshiper of love," after
all. The movie was about war, spies, and great songs. The hero never
gets to open his collar button, unfortunately, even on the fields of his
native "gaon" while rolling around the hay.

13. A lonely night, lights are out and the actress is all out to tease
our hero. She is in a totally 'masti bhara mood' full of 'cheD chaD' and
'hero ke paseene chhoot rahe hain'. This hero is usually in control but
not in this scene. She is dancing on the floor, on the table with 2
glasses in her hand (pours coke in it not wine :)) and he is trying to
get away from her! An Asha solo in a movie with 2 lead actresses. The
rest of the female songs in this movie are by Lata.

14. The same very pretty lady, but this time she has competition - her
sister. The prize is the first he-man, who is singing this lovely Rafi
solo on the piano. Both the women assume that his description of the
"new light on the beautiful face" is about her because they are both in
love with him. If that doesn't do it, how about this - the second
heroine had this "greenery and a path" movie with Manoj Kr. :-)

15. A window! Dim light! Same hero playing on Piano but they don't show
the face. He is singing the song and the actress comes in with his
friend (she is engaged to the friend). She joins in the song at the end.
You see he is singing their childhood song. (Rule of thumb for story -
if you love someone as a kid... you will separate.. you will have to
have sung a song together.. so that you will recognize each other when
you grow up, well lockets & tatoos help too, but in this case we have a
song :)).

16. Trains and cars traveling at the same speed ! Hero is singing and
the voice does not get lost in the train's 'chuk chuk' & whistles only
in indianmovies. They are creative out there :). This movie was a mega
hit & created a superstar out of the male lead. These two got paired
quite often after this hit.The song here is of course with the heroine
in the train reading a book and hero in the car. Kishore sings but this
song can be a secret longing of many a young bachelors.

17. A superstar paired with a another one, who outdid the former in the
number of movies he died in. A superhit film, Salil's music, and a
cassette playing at the end. This song is however on the beach, and as
far as I remember, there is a "balloon-walla" somewhere around too. An
intense young doctor, and an always-cheerful protagonist. The name of
the movie. Happiness, what else?

18. Pride ! Vanity ! If used well it is an asset, else it can create
quite a rift between two people. Real life husband and wife are also
husband and wife in this movie. The scene is a party with a request to
the two to sing together. They do but with their backs to each other.
Wish this actress had not stopped acting, the expressions on her face
are so real. There seems to be some truth in the lyrics too predicting
their life off the screen as she says something about his eyes wondering
but she does not say anything.

19. This movie was initially banned in India ! So you have a list of
just a few:). The lead actor is same as in the previous song ! So now
you are down to 1:) right ! See this is easy. He is living without the
lead actress, has no complains but life is no fun without her either.
She feels the same way but they go on and such is life and human nature
!

20. Travel back in time ! She was quite a hit in late 50s in the Hindi
movie scene. She is getting married. Our hero loved her but could not
marry her, because he is *supposed* to be her brother but is not ! He is
there lost in this 'uljhan' and a bidaii song is playing in the
background. Mukesh singing on a rare occasion for SDB.

21. TAXI ! It's pouring out there. Both the hero & the heroine step out
of the Bus queue, look at each other, and keep looking (they have not
seen each other for a while) and a third person gets in the taxi ! While
everyone has an umbrella, our hero has to be saving himself with
newspaper! You see, otherwise how will they both end up under one
walking together in rain for our our song? It is a background duet with
flashbacks of their earlier meetings and remembrances. The movie also
had a parade of celebrity appearances in one of the earlier scenes
including Lata, Guru Dutt, Geeta Dutt, Rafi, Dilip Kumar, Mehboob Khan.
and the story revolves around selling movie tickets in black.

22. Lady of Q2, she is not in the scene but she is who this is all
about. Two brothers, and the third one enters the scene at the end of
the song. The youngest is describing what happened on his first date.
They had lost their way, had gone to the wrong country altogether. But
man, was it fun! Not just for them but for everyone. One of the best
comedies ever made, a B&W. Great songs, but this one is special,
especially as this is never the first one that people think of when the
movie is mentioned. Oh ok - one more clue - the eldest bro always makes
sure that not even Rs. 5.75 is missing from the "hisaab"

Vulcanji,

This quiz is a straight lift from the 'CHITRAHAAR' quizzes that were a
regular quiz series on rmim itself. This one is the Chitrahaar quiz
located at:
http://www.cs.duke.edu/~pkd/chaar/ch6

To look at the other CHITRAHAAR quizzes go to:
http://www.cs.duke.edu/~pkd/chaar/chitrahaar.html

The fellow didnt create it. He lifted it, changed the name of the quiz and
passed it off as his own. All this without acknowledgements to the original
quizmasters. You should give him a piece of your mind.

ppl!!!

Visited the main page.

Why did it stop, the last entry in the page is

"Current Chitrahaar
Due Date: Sunday, 16th November, 1997
18. Aankhen (Nita)"

or was it converted to RJGK?
