Mahesh Bhatt's GUMRAH seems well set to be the next super-hit
at the Indian box-office. Critics says that Sanjay Dutt & Sridevi
have given one of the best performances of their careers. I watched
excerpts from the movie, and it seems that's true. Sridevi looks impressive
in the scene in which she is being tortured, so is Sanjay Dutt in the fight
scenes. The songs sound good. Is this film partially shot in Hong Kong?
I noticed couple of Chinese custom officers in the excerpts.
In a recent edition of Movies newsmagazine "Lehrein" (I guess), Mukesh
Bhatt claimed that Sanjay Dutt is not on the way to fill the vacuum
left by Amitabh but has ALREADY filled it. So are the views of couple
of top Bollywood's producers and directors. GUMRAH which is going to
be released on September 25th should confirm that.

I think Mukesh Bhatt needs to seriously consider having some medical help...
..a comparison of sunjay dutt and amitabh indeed !!!
Not only can Sunjay Dutt not deliver his dialogues as well as bachchan....
..but in a film I lately saw (Sahibaan)..he cannot even walk properly...
(NO, He is NOT drunk in the scene I am refering to). He is supposed
to be a KUNWAR SINGH - some titled rich man....he looks more like a road
side chchakka. In fact if you close your eyes and listen to some of his
dialogues, you are not sure whether it is a male or a female talking !!...
.and this is not just my experience...many of us watching the film tried
doing this..........
There is only 1 thing one feels like saying when one sees snjay dutt on the
screen and that is:
EEEKKKKKSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

Sahibaan is not considered to be one of Dutts better films anyway!!
You cant expect the guy to make a superhit EVERY time can you?????
Even amitabh churned out trash like 'ganga jamna sarsawati' (sp??)
and he also had some bad movies released in the late 80's...(whether they
were box office flops or not is another matter).

I myself am a big fan of Amit, but even I cant help comparing Dutt to the
great AB. Sure Amit was a great actor of his generation, but Dutt represents
a new era of Hindi Movie. Most older fans of Amit wouldnt give a damn about
Dutt and his acting, but remember, before Amit came along there were
actors like
Raj Kapoor (50's and 60's)
Dilip Kumar (50's and 60's)
Rajesh Khanna (70's)
Amitabh (late 70's to early 90's)

Remember Rajesh Khanna fans were slagging Amit off in the 80's just as
Amit fans are slagging off Dutt fans in the early 90's
;:-)

I agree with you. It is a known fact that nobody liked Amit when he
started, nobody could have even imagined in 1972 that AB will become
so popular. Who knows ten year down the line You (Mr. Sanjay Dutt),
might be a Superstar. You can never tell about indian audience. And
we should keep it on mind that it is not the people like us who make
or break a star, but the people who sit in the front-stall.

-Surender.

Disclaimer : I am not a Sanjay Dutt fan or anything. I just tried to draw
an analogy to fame of AB, who was criticized by everyone in
the begining.

God ! How many times this is going to take place on RMIM ? Dear Nettors,
if 'debate' doesn't ring musical bells in your ears, please ignore this
article. This has otherwise nothing to do with music. :-)

One of the best things is, Sanjay Dutt fans never fail to go too far.
The hatred rest of the world feels for their '34 year heartthrob',
perhaps generates more 'Love' in their hearts about Sanju beta. :-)
BTW, I will be referring to Sanjay Dutt the 'actor' and not our fellow
nettor from UK who shares the same name.

With this humble preamble over, let's ATTACK !

You mean most of the times, Sanju Dutt has a Superhit to his credit ?
And only a few times he fails ? Hmmm.

So ? Gavaskar got out on Zero a few times. I got out on Zero a few times.
Therefore I am as great as Gavaskar ?!? Hmmm.
I am sure you didn't intend such a logic. But what's the point anyway ?
Number of hits/flops don't decide acting ability. It's the performance
which matters. Amitbhai had many flops. But when was HIS performance
bad ? And if you want to count the trash movies which became Superhits
because of him, then ? And by the same token of no of hits/flops, our
Jeetu, Rajendrakumar etc. should also be compared to Amit, don't they ?
Hmmmm.

You came out with a good point. Now I can ask a question to the
proponents of the "Generation Gap Theory".
There came once a movie called Shakti. It had Dilipkumar, the king of
50's and 60's. It also had our Vijaybhaiyya, the ultimate king. This is
the movie one should not miss if one is interested in seeing how the
"Abhinaysamrtaat"s do "jugalbandi". Sheron'ki kusti hai ! After seeing
this movie, my father, a Dilip-fan for life, said, "Amitabh has given
a great performance. It wasn't easy for Yusufbhai to show that he is the
one who is better." :-) I said the same sentence, with the names
interchanged. :-)
Now I know, Sher or Choohe ki kusti ko kusti nahin kehte, par khuda-na-
khasta Amitabh aur Sanju ki koi film aa jaye, to
will you new-generation-boys be able to say such thing about Sanju ?
Please do think on this one.

In any case, here is a sincere request. O naye fasl ke jawaano, hum
buddhon par rahem karo. Tum apne Sanju ko dil ke mandir me bithao,
uski pooja karo, jo marzi aaye wo karo. Par hum buddhon ke buddhe
Amitabh par aise sare-aam kichad na uchaalo. Rahem, parwardigar, rahem !

Please !
Hijras are humanbeings. Don't insult them like that.
Sanjay Dutt, esp. when he laughs, looks like a failed experiment of a
genetic engineer. God knows what this engineer wanted to create !

Yup.

- Abhay.
Bash him, just bash this insult to the art of acting.
