Interesting sentiments on the nebulous words ".. inspired by ..". An
article called 'Copycat Cinema' that examines the fate of Hindi remakes
of English originals (and therefore, probably outside the RMIM purview,
but it was interesting reading anyway).

I did glean this from the article... few surprises there. And plenty
more where these came from.

If I may be excused for this breach of RMIM charter too...I will add one to the
OTHER column. Atleast this is what I think :

Basic Instinct Red Rose(The Rajesh Khanna-Poonam Dhillon--RDB one)

In the hindi red rose, was there a male solo song shot on Rajesh Khanna
in some party, about drinking probably.

I liked the song song very much when I saw the film about 20 years ago.
But never heard it apart from the film. I have forgoten the words.

Any help which one was this.

Or am i so much off mark that that song in the above situation could be
from "phir wohi raat" a horror film which i guess I had seen around the
same time.

Whenever I think of that song, "chhalkaaye jaam" comes to mind.

The song in question was " Challkao jhoom ke paimaana khushi ka ..." a very
likeable KK-RDB combo.

sigappu Rojakal came late 70's - Basic Instinct - came in 90's.

Sirf tum (the original tamil kadhal kottai) came 3 years before
you got mail.

Cannot agree with this.
As per IMDB (us.imdb.com),
You've got mail released in 1998.
Sirf tum released in 1999, an year after that.

You have too.. :-)
Kathal Kottai and its Telugu dubbed versions were released in
late 1996.

Sirf TUm is just a remake of it.

Hi.
Please you look at the following line from the original message :

> > > Sirf tum (the original tamil kadhal kottai) came 3 years before
> > > you got mail.
> > >

I interpreted (as many would) the line as :
1. Sirf tum is remake of tamil movie kadhal kottai.
AND
2. Sirf tum came 3 years before you got mail. ==> I objected to this.

PS. I am not a hollywood devotee aka indian cinema basher. It's just a difference
of interpretation.
