Can any one tell me what it means, or is it just dummy words left in the
song for rhyming purposes?

Happy Listenings.

Not dummy words, I don't think. It sounds like Persian to me.
kujaa means where and, if I'm not mistaken, beri/biri means
you going. kujaa beri here would be 'where are you off to?'
(kahaaN chal di/ye).
Corrections/confirmations welcome.

What does "/" stand for in various instances?
Ashok
Incidentally, I noticed the same and was trying to figure out what "kuja
berii" is.
I am sure somebody who speaks/understands Kashmiri can explain it better.
lt
I thought it sounded Kashmiri to me....I have no idea what it means though.
After your explanation, persian seems to fit the bill here.

Thanks, UVR. It makes perfect sense now (for the words, not the song
itself). :)

In beri/biri, it indicates that I'm not sure which of these
is the correct pronunciation, or if both are acceptable.
In di/ye, it indicates that both would be acceptable forms
of translating the word to Hindi, much in the same way as
for, say, "kutaH gachchhasi".

I am not quite sure that it is Persian. For one thing,
the pronunciation of the Farsi word for "where" is
"kuja" --- with a short "u" sound. But the word in the
song sounds like "koo - ja".
But it is possible that the lyricist could have anticipated
the recent RMIM mail about "does correct pronunciation
matter ?".
Afzal
They do sing it with the short "u" sound.
There is a persian song "O Janam kuja me ri" sung by Pakistani singer
Tahseen Javed, not sure if you are talking about same song. I think
'kuja me ree' means 'kahaaN gaye?'

Check out http://www.afghanistan.org/music.asp?aa - the 8th song in this
page...."oh khanum kuja meri". I presume Nadeem Shravan have lifted their
Sheen track from this original and also used the same words making way for
an obvious giveaway!

Don't know about Kashmiri, but an Iranian colleague confirmed it means
"where do you go" in Persian.
