Oh YES! This song IS an inspiration for the song of Mohra. According to a
post here few weeks ago, the movie's music director has admitted to have
been inspired by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. There are very few people who
have the guts to admit that.

I was just listening to Nuereth Fateh Ali Khan . I liked his music.
But he does do a lot of singing to "Jhule Lal" and Mast Kalander.
Can someone tell me what this means? i have only hear the song
Damadam Mast kalander
ali dam dam de andhar
What do these words mean? It sounds like a prayer. What is the language?
Thanks

Lal Shahbaz Kalandar was a Sufi mystic from Sindh. "Mast" in
this context means (I think) "to be in a trance" and "Damadam"
could be interpreted as "intense" or "unstoppable." Kalandar is
also used to describe a an other-worldly person, someone who
leads a spartan life etc.
The "Ali" in the second line seems to be the 4th Khalifa who
is often invoked as a symbol of strength, fortitude etc.
That was my rather sketchy attempt. Corrections most welcome.

I agree w/ you. Even Viju Shah said in the interview w/ INDIA WEST
that all that he used from NFAK's song was the word(s)
MAST MAST. That hardly qualifies the song as a COPY.

This song is from Jai Kishan. MD is Anand-Milind. It stars
Akshay Kumar in dual role.

The Lyrics might be different.....but the music is exactly
the same!!!!!!!!!!!..........

And People Are Talking About The Song AMMADEKH....But No
One Has Mentioned The Fact That The Song "AMMADEKH".....
Is Also A Copy Of A Song By The Same Name, Sung By A....
Pakistani Group!!..........

i love it when so many people agree with me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
but then why didn't u guys speak up earlier hunh???
:)))))))))))))
just waiting for someone else to do the good deed???:))))))
what do u mean the music is exactly the same...
if the same instruments are used to make music it might sound same to u
but to us it sounds different becos it had a different rhythm....
and i have heard both the songs so i know that the tunes in both the
songs are entirely different...
btw, have u heard the mohra song or not??
:)))))))))))))))))))))
Yes....FYI...I have heard both songs too..................
and I had heard the Nusrat Fateh Ali one a long time ago
.......so when I first heard the one from Mohra.....it was
easy to see that it had been copied!!.....and anyway......
who are you trying to fool...or please by saying that it
is not a copy........they even put in the classical part
......as was in Nusrat Fateh Ali's song.......(and don't
get me wrong...the classical part is different in both of
em.......but the thing is..that THEY put that part in...
just like in N. F. Ali's song!!!........
And the song does have a similar rhythm.................
it just didn't come into the mind of the MD of the movie
.......he must have listened to Dam Mast Qalandar first
....and Nusrat can easily sue.......if he hasn't already
cause they stole his idea.......if u prefer to use that
word instead of copy...."idea"............:):):):).......
...but I would still say that it's a copy................
maybe some other ppl would like to comment.....

I think, there's a bit of a confusion here. Those who are arguing against the argument that 'tu cheez badi hai mast mast' is a copy of 'dum must kalandar' have in their mind the song 'Dama dam mast kalandar, ali dum dumbe andar' which was sung by N.F.A.K and later by Reshma, Usha Uthup and others. While others who are arguing in favour have in mind another song 'dam mast kalandar mast mast'. This is my guess. If I am wrong, please ignore and continue fighting.

Have you heard the Fateh Ali Khan version?????? I host an Indian
Music show here in Halifax on University/Community radio, and I've played
both versions side by side, and even my listeners agree that it's a copy.
Viju Shah copied the backbeats of the original Pakistani version, only he
sped them up. Heck, even the music interludes with the guitar are exactly
the same as the F.A.K. version. The original version came out over 2 years
ago, and was a huge hit in Pakistan. It is 15 minutes in length, and I have rarely
played the whole song on my show. Listen to both versions, and you will
hear for yourself that Viju Shah should take no credit for the song. It's
just like Anand-Miland copying Dakh Dakh from a South Indian movie,
without changing a single note. To this day, I still like the original
Fateh Ali Khan version, with the only advantage given to the copy is that
it's only 5 minutes long, vs. 15 minutes for the Fateh Ali Khan version.
