Can someone send me the list of cassettes of Talat, especially the
ones which have less pop influence (his early ones).
from one of his ghazals...
"Meri to ek baat ka itna gila hua
Kuch aap ko bhi yaad hai apna kaha hua"
another beautiful sher from one of his cassettes.
"Yeh samaz ke manaa hai sach tumhari baaton ko
Itne khubsoorat lub jhoot kaise bolenge"

Really good sher's except that it is samajh and not samaz :-) nit-picking!!
I really like and have only one cassette of his "A touch of Talat Aziz", and it
has some excellent ghazals.

I beg to differ, Sheikhsaab, but it's Umrao Jaan (period). The additional
'ada' in the title belongs to a Pakistani movie (also about the doomed
courtesan).

Panditji, once and for all, the ghazal IS sung by Talat Aziz. Yes, the
movie is Bazaar (md. Khayyam), and no, Bhupinder is not the singer.

I am sure Khayyam has given many more hits than the above listed.
Yes! he is one of the very good MDs we are left with.
As I remember music for *NOORI* was also by Khayyam, the same Yash Chopra
- Khayyam combination.
Anyone any idea what is he doing now a days.

Porky ye kya ho raha hai ??? The singers are Talat Aziz and Lata (why didn't
anyone mention Lata before ?)

BTW, "Dekhlo aaj humko....." is a haunting melody. The lyrics are simple,
but the song is so melodious. Was it sung by Khayyam's wife ?

Did Khayyam composed music for Dard? (starring Rajesh Khanna & Hema M.)
It had some awesome songs like
Na jaane kya hua jo tune cchu liya..
Dard seene me cchupa lete hai...
Pyar ka dard hai meetha meetha pyara pyara..
Khayyam is one of my favorite MD. I beleive he has a very high success
rate ( what I mean is, you will find almost all the songs in his
movies equally good. I hardly find any bad song in his movies) Compared to other MDs he has composed music in lesser films. Long time
back I had read an article on him that his price is very high (and therefore,
he signs up few movies).

has the lines
"Ek khilona toot jaayega
naya mil jaayega.."
i'm quoting from dim memory. He used
to sing this one on Doordarshan (in his early days)
does anybody know this ghazal???
