Hi Folks,

There was a beautiful song by Manna Dey, I assume from around late 50's
to early 60's. I know how the tune goes, but not the lyric. only few
words here and there. Hope someone could provide me with some info.
(begining of the song):-

"Ek hai dinka, rahe khushi ka samay badalta jaaye

(Second verse starts)
Aasha wo ka ?????????????????

I think it is the same song which I have been looking for many years.
The words (to the best of my recollections are)

Ek Se Din Na Rahen Kisi Ke, Samay Badalta Jaye
Raat Kategi Din Bi Hoga, Raat Se Kyuon Ghabraye

The Singer may be Subir Sen or Manna Dey

I don't have any other info (whether from a film or is a non-film song,
year of release etc or even a snippet)

yeah...its by Mannada and its a non-film song.
i have that song recorded from the radio ceylon a few years back.

Hi Sudhir, I have mailed you the song.... No the provider did not have any info...But as you know, MD did number of private recording... As previously mentioned by Somnath, this might be a non film song.

The note on the YouTube post mentions that this song was recorded in 1956 and the music director was M L Sonik. No name of the lyricist given.

A website dedicated to Manna Dey (http://mannadey.in/index2.html) notes the year of recording as 1956, lyricist as Chandra Bhushan Triv (sounds incomplete name to me and is probably Trivedi) and the music director to be Murli Manohar Swarup.

Manna Dey (as well as many others) sang a lot of non-filmi songs composed by Murli Manohar Swarup and I tend to believe that the information from Manna Da's website is accurate though I can't prove it.

While I have not focomplete song, I came
across a web-site listing many 78 rpms and Vinayl
records for sale

It has listing of subject song of Manna Dey as

Kaanto Par Chalta Jaaye (side B)

Lyrics: Naqsh Lyallpuri

Music: M L Sonik (that is probably the first name
of MD team Sonik - Omi)

Record No. N 88186 (Red color label featuring: Nipper)
