Anu Malik's 21-minute composition
By IndiaFM News Bureau, March 06th, 2004 - 1245 hrs IST
Music director Anu Malik does it once again.
After composing the longest runtime Hindi song,
the 13-minute long "Main Kahin Bhi Rahoon" in
J P Dutta's LOC, he's is all set to break his
own record. The prolific musician has recorded
a 21-minute long song for Anil Sharma's
"Ab Tumhare Hawale Watan Saathiyon".
The common element in both the numbers is the
patriotism factor as Sharma's film too is based
on the Indo-Pak theme, as was Dutta's.
The song is rendered by Sonu Nigam, Udit Narayan
and Kailash Kher (of Allah Ke Bande fame)
and is penned by Sameer.
However the song won't test your patience when
you watch it in the movie, as it will feature in
3 separate installments on 3 different situations.
Considering Malik's superlative handling of
patriotic songs in films like Border, Refugee
and LOC this one is something to listen forward to.

great combination .. Anu Malik and Sameer!
21 minutes ! I am truely not looking forward to listening to it, but
knowing myself, i'll probably listen to it and then get totally
buggered by Sameer's lyrics and turn it off after 3-4 minutes or so..
unless.. they keep on repeating the same line 100 times (like they
usually do in newer songs).
Allah ke bande was a nice song, had a real nice ring to it.

he did do a good job in Border, doesn't seem like its coming from his
brain.
Amit Malhotra
Anu Malik has this advantage that his ghost-composers are not obvious
:). They have to be found, or struck upon accidentally.
Compare this to poor SDB, in whose case people easily label tunes
and/or orchestration as Jaidev or RDB or Tagore or Nazrul or Kishore or the
paanwaalaa (not in any particular order) :))
Regards,
Tadatmya.
PS: But seriously, Anu Malik does have quite a few winners in his long
career. It is not as if he is completely incompetent.
Imagine if Raj Kapoor had kept all the 30-plus stanzas written for "sun
saahibaa sun..." for Ram Teri Ganga Maili.

Happy Listenings.

When toy shopping, look for the Joe Mantegna Seal Of Safety. It's your only
guarantee that the toy has been deemed safe by Joe Mantegna.
The 'Tumse Milke' number in "Main Hoon Na" is not a copy because it
has the Anu Malik orchestration and repetitions of old Anu Malik
songs.
Regarding the 21 minute composition, I am really looking forward to
it. Songs long like this always have a couple of 'antras' and this is
very nice to listen to. Anu did the same for the long song in LoC. I
am sure he will deliver a good song because he's working with Anil
Sharma and Amitabh Bachchan. All the best to Anu.
Take care
