I remember one song in Telugu in IR and Lata combination.
It is "tella chiraku" from the movie "Akhari poratam" starring
Nagarjuna and Sridevi.
I think this only the second song which Lata sang in Telugu
other being "niddura pora"

Lata sounds oh-so-cute here. No apparent struggles with the
language despite the fast-pace and tongue-twisting words. No gross
mispronounciations either.
Any other Lata songs composed by Raja?

The first song of hers for Illayaraja was "aaraaro aaraaro nee vero
naan vero" from the movie "Anand". An year following that there was
"valaiyosai gala gala" (with S P Balasubramaniam) in "Sathya". Same
year ('88) there was another song in the movie "En Jeevan Paaduthu",
namely, "engerundo azhaikum en jeevan, en uyiril kalandhey adhu
paadum."
Illayaraja was not the first MD for whom Lata sang in Tamil. In 60s
some of Naushad's movies in Tamil had Lata singing in them. Lata might
have very well sung the Tamil version of Naushad's path-breaking "more
saiyaanji uthrengey paar" (lyrics by Kamba_daasan) from "Udan Khatola"!
Amala's character in the movie "Sathya" spoke imperfect Tamil, so the
choice of Lata was justified for the song "valaiyosai gala". But Asha
Bhosle had a tougher job in her first song for Illayaraja, as the
movie was based on a rural theme. Asha's song "senbagame senbagame"
in "Enga Ooru Paatukkaaran" turned out to be a superhit in '86!
Asha Bhosle sung for Illayaraja an year before Lata did. Asha also has
more songs with him than Lata, in movies like "Pudhu Paatu", "Meera"
etc. Asha still sings in Tamil films - for A.R.Rahman ("Iruvar"; '97)
and Deva ("Nerukku Ner"; '97).

Why is it path-breaking? Who Kamba_Daasan? Of Kamba_RaamaayaNam? What
was the movie called in Tamil? Was it just dubbed?

Hmmm... if someone who can sing "Munnalum pinnalum taLLadum, sen me'ni, en
me'ni, un thoLil aaDum naaL" speaks imperfect Tamil, I wonder what I speak!
:) :) She even says "taLLadum" (not "talladum") and "thoL" (not "thol") and
"naaL" (not "naal") correctly!

Yes, it is a beautiful soft song sung beautifully by Asha. Wasn't there a
male tandem also? Was it by Ilayaraja himself? (I hope not. :)

Oh, what a song you reminded me of Vandana. Fabulous is the only word to
describe it. The opening music and the interlude music was just out of the
world, particularly the first interlude music in which Raja composed with
mathematical precision in orchestra. I am serious , one has to listen to first
interlude music again and again to appreciate the intricacy of the music.
Though Lata did a commendable job in singing this tough song despite tamil
being a handicap for her it was SPB who was at his best with his flawless
abitlity and quest for perfection. A great song.
