NOOR-E-TARANNUM: tuu kaun sii badalii me.n

attached (I mean it!) to Noorjehan a significantly long time ago. And
whenever I turned to ISB for finding either the lyrics or the pstats of some
of her songs, I found that there are indeed very few of them in ISB. When I
started posting lyrics to RMIM I decided to fill up the void by selecting
Noorjehan songs whenever I can. From there arose this idea of starting a
series of lyrics posts dedicated to her. She was aptly known as
Malika-e-tarannum, so I decided to choose this name - "NOOR-E-TARANNUM" -
for the series. And as long as I am planning to start off with such a
series, and as long as the motive behind it is to have, one day, all of her
songs (at least those that matter!) in ISB, why not make this an open series
where anyone on RMIM can post lyrics of Noorjehan songs ? Going a bit
further, why stop at just lyric posts? Why not also include some articles,
anecdotes and relevant discussions also ?
So be it then! Let this be a series dedicated to Noorjehan, in general, and
to lyrics of her songs, in particular. And make sure that it is open for
everyone, I will start with a lyrics post from Srinivas.

A GREAT IDEA!
Noor Jehan sang 52(I do not have details with me here in the U.S.)
songs - including solo,duets and chorus for Khurshid Anwar.
These songs were recorded between 1955-1970.
In 1991 Khwaja Khurshid Anwar Trust supplied EMI(Pak.)with all
these songs who issued these in four vols.as "Immortal Melodies
Of Khwaja Khurshid Anwar".Unfortunately,these are out of stock since
1995-96 as EMI has stopped operating.

was asked to sing for K.A.for the first time,she inquired who was he.She was
told that he was a kind of a"Shoukia Funkar" (Amateur artist) My question to
Mr.Irfan Anwar. How come Noor Jahan did not know khurshid Anwar "the creator
of immortal melodies". She seemed to know everyone else connected with
music/film industry.Are you aware of this interview? BTW what did K.A.do from

Khurshid Anwar died on Oct.30, 1984. On Nov 2, PTV telecast the Obituary
Programme which included views of Masud Peraiz(Director),A.Hameed(MD),
Malika Pukhraj and Noor Jehan.I have a v/tape of that programme(25 mts.)
which I am going to show at RMIM's meeting in Denver on 4/5 Oct.02.
I am also going to contact PTV requesting them to show that programme
again on Khurshid Anwar's death anniversary.
I am extremely sorry to say that your memory (if at all) has totally
failed. Not a single word is correct.

Melodies' you will get replies to all of your queries(I am at 1947).
However, in order to satisfy your query about the Obituary Programme
I will try to post the tanscript of that progamme.

by Noor Jahan from the same interview is correct, then probebly i was right in
my last post too.May be Urzang khan sahib has better memory than mine.He might
