On the 78 rpm record of film: QATIL (Pakistan), the artist name is
listed as: PARVEEN KAUSAR for song - O Maina, Na Jaane Kya Ho Gaya'
While, on some tapes and also on web sites (including mazhar.dk), her
name is spelled in reverse, i.e.: Kausar Parveen
Can members, please verify as to which way is correct
Thanks

She is/was named Kausar Parween. She was wife of music composer
Akhtar Hussain Akhiyan.
I think the records of Qatil were pressed at Dum Dum.
The record what I have was released by Gramaphone Company of India,
under
licence from EMI, Pakistan
At the time of partition EMI - UK, which owned Gramaphone Company of
India,
had recording studios in Lahore and may be in Karachi alsoThey
might not
have the manufacturing facilities at location other than Dum Dum
(Calcutta's
suburb). So, it is probably true that all 78 rpm records, issued by
EMI - Pakistan
which came in to existance after August 1947) might have been pressed
in India
India had one big advantage over rest of the world. It was and still
is the biggest
producer of shellac (known as 'lac' in Hindi), the prime material from
which the
78 rpm disks were made. Some countries in Africa, have small output
of this
material. It is the excreta of insects which dwell on 'Babool' trees
(this is what
I read in a book, long time back). 'Daas Malooka Kah Gaye':
'No Boye Ped Babool ke, To Records Kahan Se
Banaye'
