"Chhota Sa" Baalma?

RMIMers,

I'm assuming that this usage in the Asha-OPN combo from "Raagini" is
not meant to be literal, but I'm also not familiar with "Chhota Sa"
being used to describe the object of affection...is this common?
What's the scoop?

It is a recurrent theme in Panjabi folk. Probably in other folk too.
Of course, there are other Hindi film songs, e.g. mohe chhoTaa mila
hai bhartaar (?)

prob asha-op revenge for the lata-cr shagoofaa song ;)

otherwise lovers use terms of endearment like munchu or chhoToo and
poochoo which indicate the lover is a juvenile (which he/she might
be). so whatever it is, the use is certainly literal.

I've been wondering about this use of chotaa as well. My
interpretation was that it is a term of endearment. Chhote Babu
doesn't mean he is small just that he is young.
I think in this context it means cute.

But every time I listen to this song I invariably visualise a
miniature balamaa.
Maybe it really means Balamma! ;-)
