The Sixteen Beauties in a Woman

By Indian tradition women have access to one or more
of the ancient Sixteen processes of enhancing their beauty,
and one of these is the wearing of rings on hand and foot.

When a woman does so she has, by unwritten tradition, a
very fixed purpose in mind. Here are some interpretations:

A ring on the index finger -
A very obvious signal that she will hold the reigns in any
relationship which is at the moment brewing, or may come
about in the near future.

This is because this finger is ruled by mighty Jupiter who
hold sway over leadership.

This is the finger with which people signal one God, or
use it to point out something, or order kids to keep peace,
or say, "chup!", silence!

A ring on the middle finger -
This speaks a very different tale. Here whatever is afoot
is very hidden, far removed from the vulgar eye, very
much a secret between she and her lover.

This is because this finger is ruled by Shani, deep dark
far off cold secretive planet.

In very old traditions this finger when uplifted denotes
a state of Equanimity in deep meditation. There is a
statute like this outside the airport in Bombay.

If she wears this, she is not available, and the matter is
done.

A ring on the ring finger -
The woman is taken and is in a fixed open relationship and
hard luck to late comers.

Sometimes a woman wears this, especially in the workplace,
to ward off pests and Romeos.

A ring on the little finger -
This is a very rare occasion, and may be because the ring
may
fit no other finger.

There is little significance here.

A ring on the thumb -
A heavy duty warning, she means business in whatever
enterprise she is engaged in.

Thumb is ruled by Neptune, in older tradition by the
Seven Seas.

If there is an affair, it is almost certainly multi-cultural
or with such overtones.

This is because the seas touch all far shores.

If stones of appropriate colors are worn in the ring, the
effect is multiplied:

index - brownstone, even a brownish Topaz
middle - a dark colored stone, almost black
ring - a golden or red stone, ruby
thumb - a green stone, an emerald.

If the same ensemble is worn in the feet the meaning
completely changes, but more of that later.

If the rings are made of silver, with tiny bells and
filigree
work, the message clearly shifts to "she's trying to say
something."

Most of the times the message is for her lover, sometimes
for anyone who will look and catch her fancy.

If she wears a certain ring with a required color and has
the same integrated in her tilak on the forehead ....
