saw the full film Ek phuul chaar kaante on YouTube.
while the movie was a bit of a letdown (are there any
good Indian comedies at all - frustrated) the bonus was
finding an extra stanza in the song "matavaalii naar"
which is the last of the song.

here it goes:
aa mil ke ham dhuum machaa de.n
sapane sach kar ke dikhalaa de.n
is duniyaa ko priit sikhaa de.n
jag Dole, sa.ng ho le, aur bole
matavaali naar Thumak Thumak chalii jaaye

I can name some 'Chalti Ka Naam Gadi', 'Pyaar Kiye Jaa' 'Golmal' ,'Padosan' and 'Chashme Baddoor' some other Basu Chatterji films are good comedies.

btw I haven't been able to figure out the meaning of 'itofs' and it is bothering me

Here is the explanation from Karthik's website http://itwofs.com (note
the spelling)

"What is ItwoFS?

ItwoFS is simply 'I'nspirations in 'I'ndian 'F'ilm 'S'ongs!

And how does one pronounce the name of this site? Its eye-too-ef-es!

The motive of this site is straight and simple - to provide a
comprehensive list of musical inspirations (sometimes subtle and
intelligent but mostly downright blatant!) of Indian film music
composers."

Thanks Balaji

If Vijay had not omitted 'w' in the subject line( in other thread) google would have helped. Interesting site; some serious hard work gone there. Also I got to hear some old favorites 'El Condor Pasa', 'Homeword Bound' ... Sounded different afters such a long time.

Ah! I missed to mention the best comedy .. "Jane Bhi Do Yaro"

I know there are some good comedies, but there are so
many more that are overhyped - ek phool chaar kaante
was one such. I saw Mr. & Mrs. 55 again recently - that
would qualify as a good rom-com. Chupke Chupke was
good, too. Jane Bhi Do Yaro was slapstick at its best!
Golmal was good too. Most films fail to sustain the
comedy through the entire length of the movie...
Dekh Kabira Roya would be another example - good
plot, but meanders too much.

I put Chalti Ka Naam Gadi and Half-ticket in the
category of "over-hyped". Miss Mary was OK, but
the Telugu original Misamma was better. Gundamma
Katha, the Telugu original of Swayamvar was also
much better - thanks in large part to the performances
of folks like NTR. Man, he could act well! His comic
timing was classic, and when paired with a Ravana
Reddy, the output was pure gold.
