A friend of mine has started taking piano lessons and as a gift for
his birthday I want to present him a collection of songs that were
picturized on a piano, either the whole song or a part of it.
This is what I have come up with so far, can you please suggest a few
more
Koi sone ke dil wala (Maya)
Dost dost na raha (Sangam)
Geet gata hoon main (Lal Pathar)

Madhuban khushboo deta hai (Saajan Bin Suhagan) (not sure about this
though)

Aap ke haseen rukh pe (Baharen Phir Bhi Ayengi)
Apologies for not using the special way to represent hindi words, but

As soon as posted my message, I was reminded of - Suhani chandni
raatein (Mukti), one of the most played song on my ipod.
Also remembered Pyar diwana hota hai (Kati Patang), which stands out
for me for the constant nodding of the two comedians behind Rajesh
Khanna's back.
Didn't know that Milte hi ankhen ... was on a piano.

about 'piano based film songs'.
I can guess very well that you are a junior into this music
appreciation. Read me carefully: OK !
With malice towards none of any sort whatever:
I feel the entire bunch of rmimers have MUCH to learn about the
'melodious colorful depth' in cine music. Many,in this forum of rmim /
connoisseurs, I feel, are lacking in this aspect and I haven't come
across any such person who even has the courage to come out of his
shell to ask / seek elaborations on my POV.
If at all the concerned person is truly/sincerely passionate and
willing to go any depths to learn / unravel or dispute my version,
surely that person, however busy he may be, would have taken me left-n-
right over the issue.But alas! these rmimers only dump me as
egoistic !!
I ask : where is the +ve attitude from your side. Where have you
displayed them to my postings ! What attempts have you individuals
made in assessing my thoughts/views to anything I state.
I am not the loser...in any way. Its you all rather,..who fail to make
opportunities when you know very well inside your mind, of your
helplessness...whatever.
I repeat, I am not undermining anyone or his persona. Think well,
friends .
Gemini Prodns: NISHAN ('50) had music by Rajeshwar Rao. This man was a
very talented MD. He knew to play every musical instrument of his
time. Alongwith M.D Parthasarathy(who was the senior) they made a
formidable combination to provide Gemini films some intoxicating
melodies prior to the 50s.
NISHAN first came in Tamil around '49 and had the very beautiful
Bhanumati paired with Ranjan. There was another musician, named
Balkrishna Kalla who joined the MD-duo to assist them for their Hindi
ventures.
Coming back to the music of the Hindi NISHAN, there is a wonderful
piano-based number by Shamshad: Teri meri yeh kahani, roz nayee hai,
nahi purani... I am sure many rmimers are aware of this. Sandeep is
requested to expand his knowledge on this hint.
Even much more melodious is the rendition of Bhanumati for the
original Tamil version. She has simply "OUTCLASSED" Shamshad in every
possible manner of rendition.
I don't have the record but the soundtrack version is available,
crystal clear. The prelude to the song...a half minute over the piano
is most enchanting followed with a 'giggling' by a group get2gether
and the song starts.

The original poster had specified songs that are *picturised* on a
piano. Do you know whether the song you mention fits this bill?
To the OP: two songs I can think of:
- dil lagaakar ham ye samajhe - Zindagi Aur Maut (the Asha version has
Fariyal singing at the piano)
- sajatii hai yuu.N hii mahafil - Kudrat (picture Priya Rajvansh
banging away at the piano as the house burns down!)

In Sanjeev/Ketan's recent "odd one out" quiz, I had clubbed this song
along with "dil lagaakar ham ye samajhe" and "tere mere milan kii ye
rainaa" as having a piano in the picturisation. However, I saw the
song a few days ago on youtube and discovered that it does not have a
piano shown onscreen. You can check it out at the link below -
although I must warn you that watching the Mukherjee brothers emote
for six solid minutes is a high price to pay for the verification! :(
