A nice ghazal, the last sher steals the soul in its simplicity, crushes
the heart in its meaning and has a haunting effect on me somehow.
Wo raat ka benawa musaafir, wo tera shaayar, wo tera naasir,
teri gali tak to hum ne dekha, phir na jaane kidhar gaya wo.
in the cassette there are just three or four shers.
In one of the book exhibitions, I had see the book by Nasir Kazmi, in
which the full version having at least 10-12 sher was there.
What a beauty, what a brilliance. just by reading it i remained drowned
in its mood for weeks.
I badly need to listen to its full version sung preferably by Ghalam
Ali. Anybody?
I did not buy the book as it was too costly for me at that time. How i
regret not buying it now. Nasir Kazmi is one of my favourite shaayar,
especially considering Ghalam Ali's brilliantly sung ghazals of him. Dil
mein ek l a a he e e r si uthii hai abhi.

The Habib Wali Mohammed version has at least one or two ashaar not sung by
Asha in Meraj-e-Ghazal.

I had heard a Nasir Kazmi's ghazal "gaye dino.n ka suraag le kar" first
in meraz-e-ghazal and then in Ghulam ali-Asha Bhosle single cassette.

the heart in its meaning and has a haunting effect on me somehow.

I have not heard Habib's version, so i can't comment.
Of course, i am not surprised that someone had sung a better version
that Asha, with due respect to her. Non filmi ghazals were never a
strong point of either of the sisters.
Could you be your usual kind self, and post these additional sher in
habib's version. I am having about a dozen sher that I read in that
book.

It marks the boundary of my feeble knowledge of Urdu, and then surpasses
that a bit. Several places it appears that scale is not kept in mind. Or
could be my mistake. Corrections are welcome.
Whatever. A ghazal to enjoy every word of. The eastern U.P.'s purabia
dialect adds to the mystique.
Enjoy.
