enjoy and have a happy Navratri
nice.
but, isn't the navratri starting on 4th Oct?
This is a charity based radio in the UK.
Its on air for only a month and only three times a year.
During Shivratri, Shravan and Diwali.
It is also on air part time for 2 hours in the morning and 2 hours in the
evening.
The part time broadcasting is done everyday for the whole year. The UK times
I believe are 7.00am till 9.00am and 7.00pm till 9.00pm (not sure).
The group has to buy a local licence to broadcast the radio on UKs FM 107.5
to cover the Leicester (UK) area. From what I hear this year they had a
problem getting the licence for the dated they wanted and hence starts on
the 9th.
I hope they can resolve this and start a bit earlier.
A full time commercial radio called Sabras Radio
(http://www.sabrasradio.com/ ) helps them by lending the Hindu Radio, the
use of their studios.
All the presenters and programmers are volunteers. None of them charges
money and present the programmes purely out of community spirit.
Most of the programmes are in Hindi or Gujarati with English programmes in
the weekends for Hindu youth. The radio is registered as a charity and
operate as a religious organisation without any profit motive. Some funds
are collected by means of a few advertisements and donations and voluntary
contribution.
The whole operation is a service to the Hindu community.
Hope that explains.
