How to I convert .wma files to .mp3.

How can these be converted in batch? I have several
.wma files. It will be inconvenient and time consuming
if I have to do it manually one by one.

I have wmp, winamp, soundforge 6.0, dbpoweramp software.

Thanks.

queries is :

http://www.litexmedia.com/awmaw.exe

This is a trialware with limited facilities ( batch conversions not
possible in trial version ) and valid for 14 days

The one I downloaded is 2.1 rc2

It converted 11 wma files to mp3, but gave
error for 3 files "these files are protected
by DRM technology, can't convert". didn't
convert to ogg also.

What is a DRM technology and how to get past it?

Thanks.

Rawatji,

DRM stands for Digital Rights Management. It is used to prevent piracy of
music by people making copies of copy righted material without paying for
it. It is illegal in some countries to copy music without paying for it.
Typically, if you buy a song from iTunes or any other legit web site that
sells legal mp3 version of songs, those files will be protected. They will
prevent you from making multiple CDs from those tracks and also try to
prevent conversion in other digital formats.

Providing any help or tools to get around DRM is also illegal (at least
where I live).

I have the same version and a crack to register it. In my last 3 years
of MP3 experience, I did not find any difficulty with Advanced WMA
workshop...maybe you need to email me one DRM error-song MP3 and I will
do some homework ( i am not into software ) before responding

Something illegal. A hacked key to make software
work without paying for a legitimate key.
I wonder if this forum should be used to encourage
such illegal practice. I leave it to others to discuss.

Actually 'crack' is different from a 'hacked key.' A crack is a small
executable which "deletes" the files pertinent to the "notice of
expiration of trial version." Thus, the software fails to know if its
trial version has expired and keeps running forever.

Drawbacks of 'crack':

* You can never ever uninstall the program in question, once you crack it.
* It will not update or work like full version, of course.
* It can be bugging if it has implicit bugs in it. I think it may be
used as a "wooden horse" for trojans, worms, etc. too.

I used a crack once and I regret it to this day.

Best regards,
Animesh

Thanks Deepak ji and Kaustubh ji,

It is very interesting to get two diametrically opposite
replies.

Deepak ji uphold the ethics, and Kaustubh ji, like myself,
would be willing to take a shortcut.

Kaustubh ji, I could not find the crack of the this
version on my favourite crack site. Please send it to
me.

Professor Saheb,

nowadays, most of the software need some software
code or key to make it work after the trial period,
or with full capabilities even in trial periods.

There are patches available which can remove that
software coding from these software, so that it
works fully, and always. Such things are called
"cracks". Sometimes it is just a username and/ or
a serial no., sometimes they provide a small exe
file which "patches" the actual file, sometimes
they provide some .dat or some other file which
had relevant data which makes the lock work, and
if nothing works, they provide entire patched file
in which someone had manually modified the codes.

My favourite site is crackspider.net. You might
wish to explore it. Just enter the name of the
organisation that released it, name of the software,
the version, and you get a list of all cracks, which
one can download.

No charges for it.

Though, the sites are peculiarly and intentionally
designed to ward off random visitors. These open
several tabs in your browsers, or new windows, and
are mostly full of pornographic content so that
nice people don't go further.

But the knowing ones see the button "download the file"
and click on it, and the patch gets downloaded.

There is never any virus or any worm etc in these files.
---------
I go the opposite way. When I have to download a software,
first I go to crackspider.net and find that which is the
last version for which crack is available. Then I search
that version/release and download it.

Someday, I am going to donate big money to crackspider.net
to help them continue their noble drive which made several
of the costly things work for me free of cost. Only that
I have to earn that big money first. I am vey much
greatful to them.

Rawatji,

My comments were less about the ethics and more about letting you,
Kaustubhji and others know (just in case you all did not know) that some of
what you are doing is against the law. Chances are very high that nothing
bad will happen to any one of you. But your postings on this and other
discussion forums are permanent. Even e-mails are stored in various servers
for eternity.

Many software vendors, music companies are putting pressure on Govts around
the world (including India) to crack down on piracy. Some people become
unwitting victims in this dragnet and may get sued. So watch out on what you
say on the net and on e-mail. It may come back to haunt you.

I believe in ethics for my own. I don't impose it on others. My postings
have been just gentle reminders to people I consider friends that some
things are not legal and that they should watch out.

'Nough said.

Regards...

Deepak

I am facing a new problem on my system.

I have winamp3 2.8 free version.

As soon as I play a song using it, the "wave balance"
setting of my system (as seen on volume window of win98)
goes to bottommost. The song plays and I need to manually
drag the button of wave balance to the top position
to hear the song. but as soon as the song restarts,
the setting again goes to bottom.

It was playing ok a week ago. Most of the lyrics I had
posted recently was on winamp, not on soundforge as I
was earlier doing.

Any idea of the problem or the solution?

btw, songs play ok in wmp as well as in soundforge
without affecting this setting.
----------
Also, when I click on any DRM protected song
it does not play in winamp, nor in wmp, and
rather opens an explorer window trying to access
some site.

I don't know how and since when it started happening.
Is it the default behaviour of DRM protected songs,
or did I do some recent settings fiddling which
had caused it. Any way around of it? What is the
use of songs when I can't listen to them, ok I will
not change the format.

If anybody is willing to analyze this behaviour, I
can post one 1.5 MB song file by direct mail.

All the song which got converted by awma.exe are
playing ok whether wma or converted mp3 versions.

I don't use winamp normally. I installed it on my computer just to look
around. My version is much later version. Please look into the settings of
the output plugin. You can get there by selecting options->settings under
the file drop down (left top corner icon). It gives you a few choices in the
configuration including volume control. May be something change its
settings.
