Can someone please give me the name of the artist / s, who lip-
synched
these songs.
Is it one artist or are two different one ?
Thanks

I saw the film in 1963, so memory is a little hazy.
I believe the artistes are the same. This question was also
raised in RMIM some three years back. I had then opined that
the young girl was one Bharati Roy (who had also acted in
"Chhaya" as Sunil Dutt's sister). Another RMIMer (Pawan Jha ?)
was of the opinion that it was one Dolly Kapoor (wife of the
producer J.P. Japoor). But the question is : would a
producer's wife be so young ? Besides, the film was produced
by "Bimal Roy Productions". So, one would assume that he
himself was the Producer.

Afzal saab,
Yes, you've got a super memory.. One old opinion was an actress called
Meenakshi... but It was Mrs. Kapoor as per one of the production
assistants associated in Bandini..

in bollywood its quite possible for aspiring actresses :) loads of
history...

We can go about answering the query in another way.
There was a film called "Opera House", released in or around
1961. It starred an aging Ajit and B. Saroja Devi, with
music by Chitragupta. One of the songs was a (dance) duet :
"Raste men tire kab se haiN khaRe e-ji, le lo salaam GHareeboN
ka". The duo are sort of street singers who sing and dance
in order to earn a living. I have a feeling that the girl in
this song is the same girl (who I had identified tentatively as
Bharati Roy). The guy in the song was a little-known comedian
of those days, Johnny Whisky. His film career was a failure;
and his comedy bordered on the vulgar. The song itself had a
catchy tune and rhythm, and that is how I still remember it.
It is possible that the film's VHS cassette or DVD may still be
available. I would request you or some other RMIMer to please
have a look at that song and tell us whether it is the same
girl. Also, Hrishikesh Mukherjee's "Chhaya" should also be
available and people can check out who played the role of
Sunil Dutt's younger sister.

Raz Saheb,
Thanks for providing these links.
The two songs are so different. The "Bandini" song is laden with
pathos, and quite slow moving. OTOH, the other song is so sprightly
and vivacious. Even so, the facial resemblance between the two
(same ?) artistes is quite palpable --- a narrow forehead, rather
snubbed nose, bushy eyebrows, and the eyes themselves.
What is your take ? Do you feel it is the same girl ?
Afzal
The two films have the following supporting actresses in common
1) Bela Bose
2) Leela
The other actresses in Bandini include
1) Moni Chatterjee
2) Chandrima Bhaduri

Sukesh
Moni Chatterjee and Chandrima Bhaduri were both elderly characters
and quite easy to rcognize. And so was Bela Bose. I can't say
anything about "Leela".
I am tempted to repeat the same question to you --- what do YOU
feel about the artistes figuring in the two songs ? Do you
think they could be the same ?
Afzal
Are bhai, Moni Chatterjee is a bald man with big eyes. Look at number
11 here:
if you dont know who he was, let me upload a pic of his..
Oops!

I know "jab bade bol rahe ho to chhoto ko chup rehna chahiye " but
still
Bimal Roy - Hrishikesh Mukerji could transform personalities of
Actors..They would look different in their films say- Dhatmendra.
The display just after listing of lead actors and listing Supporting
artists has
And
Meher Banoo
Generally, an artist listed under the word - And, played a major
role (A large number of films,
featuring actor Pran had similar listing, which later became the title
of the book for his
autobiography)
I am not fimilar with the face of 'Mehar Banoo. Could it be this
artists ?
