If I remember right, there are 2 versions of this song, one by Chitalkar and
Meena Kapoor and the other by Chitalkar and Shamshad Begum. This song is
from the film "Shehnai", lyrics by Rajinder Krishan and music of course by
C. Ramachandra. As far as I know, neither version has Amirbai.

Just read the latest issue of India Today.Seems Vidhu Vinod Chopra's(of
Parinda Fame)latest movie 1942-A Love Story-starring AK and Monisha Koirala
is due to be released now.As reported in the article when Vidhu Vinod
called up RD and asked him to compose the music for the film,Rd initially
declined saying that he was not doing his best these days. But chopra asked
him to listen to all his father's old songs for inspiration. Now the music is
ready.
After the spectacular quality of songs in Parinda,I hope RD finally delivers
the kind of music that has enthralled fans of his for so many years now.

The word in the last is not pandit but pande....
That would rhyme with sunday in the previous stanza,,,, and also
the 'pande'(the poojaris) of kashi are very 'famous'.
