a certain Ms.Purohit from TIFR, Mumbai. The adress mentioned is Ms.
V.N. Purohit, 12 Jhelam New TIFR Housing Complex, V.N. Purav Marg,
Mandala Mankhurd, Mumbai 400 088, India.
I've been trying to get her tel.no without luck. Does anyone have a
telephone number or email to get in touch with her.
Vishwas Nerurkar authored a filmography on SJ last year(i think). Was
quite interesting. I think its time someone like Raju Bharatan wrote a
book on SJ, C.Ramchandra and others. He has written a good book on
Lata but the MDs who gave her those fabulous songs to sing deserve a
tome to be written about them too. SJ and C.Ramchandra are prime
candidates in my opinion. C.Ramchandra's marathi autobiography was
good but there was very little in that about his music and his
experiences with various singers & personalities. I think such details
would've made for v v interesting reading indeed ! ! :)

explored all the big book shops in Pune, but to no avail. If somebody

Vishwas does not sell the book through book sotres. One has to buy it
directly from him. A google search on RMIM should bring up his contact
phone number in Mumbai. If not, send me an email and I can dig it out.

When I was in Pune last time, April 2004, I found some of his books in a
book shop near Appaa BaLawant Chowk. Sorry I don't remember the name of the
shop but it is between Appa BaLawant Chowk and the old Ratan theatre, closer
to the chowk and the same side of the road as the theatre. Quite a big shop
so don't look in the smaller ones.

The easiest and surest way for you to get the book
would be to find out Bhalchandra Vani's phone number.
He lives near Garware College - Lakdi Pool area.
In fact, if you contact Vishwas, he is most likely to point
you to Shri Vani.
