Few days back, I rented a 70's movie: Do Kaliyan, hoping
to revive memories of some nice old songs (MD: Ravi).
IMO it is a poorly directed movie with an awful hero: Biswajeet.
Anyway, the film introduces a child artist: Baby Sonia
in double role. This girl's face resembled "Neetu Singh"
quite a bit. Could some Bollywood expert confirm this?

Yes, you are absolutely correct. That child star went on to
become Neetu Singh. As a matter of fact, Jeetendra was also a child
star but I do not remember any of his movies from back then.

Have you heard of Urmila Matondkar. She acted as the elder daughter of
Naseeruddin Shah in MASOOM and a pretty salable star now a days.

Depending on how you want to stretch the definition of "child," one could
include Padmini Kohlapure who had "child" roles in both "Satyam, Shivam,
Sunderum" and "Thodi Si Bewafaii," and then had a semi-successful career as a
female lead.
I also recall either Honey Irani or Daisy Irani (I could never tell them
apart!) After years of seeing them in child roles, one of these two had a
brief comeback as a female lead in some Gujarati flicks.

Her first movie NARSIMHA was a big hit. Then SHRIMAN ASHQUEE was an
average hit. I think in the new lot of actresses, she is the coolest one.
Wait for her most ambitious movie RANGEELA with Amir khan to come out.

I dunno abt Hindi films but Khushboo was an exception ... she was there in the
Sunil Dutt film (which showed his wife dying of Cancer similar to Nargis) as a
child artiste and now she is a top heroine ... I guess someone like Sridevi
would be a better example ... a highly rated female child artiste and later a
top heroine ... Though my choice for best Child Artiste who goes on to become
top star would always be "Sakala Kala Vallavan" Kamal Hassan !!

Talking of child artists who became successful heroines,
I think that Sreedevi tops the list.
She has acted as a child in a number of Telugu and Tamil movies with
big stars like NTR, Gemini Ganesan ....
In fact in one of the movies she acted as NTR's grand-daughter
and later went on to act as a heroine with him in a good number of movies.
Another actress I remember is Padmini Kolhapuri.
