OFFBEAT FLOPS OF 1993:- Dharavi
" In the last few years, the Indian film audience has matured into an extremely
independent entity. Filmmakers can no longer take it for granted, or hope to
sell their films simply on the star-cast or tried and tested formulae. The
year 1993 reinforces the audience's independence. "
This has been taken from " The Hindustan Times" dated:- December 19, 1993.

I am not making any comments on ratings etc. But I can not quite
understand the criterion for classifying movies as "OFFBEAT". In
this list I am in agreement with "OFFBEAT"ness of three movies,
however in my opinion "Sir" and "Aaina"(at least the new one, I am
not talking about the old one with - Rajesh Khanna & Mumtaz) should
not be classified as "OFFBEAT" movies when we have movies like -
"Damini" & "Gardish" (is not really offbeat, but..) among the
commercial movies.
What do other netters think ?

Disclaimer : These are just my personal opinions. Others might disagree.
I guess the word OFFBEAT was to have meant "critically acclaimed". So that
would qualify the above-mentioned two movies along with the truly offbeat
ones. Then again one could also add "Damini" to the list.
