I would like to add to my collection.

[IIRC, most of Sonik Omi's songs in the latter part of their career were
penned by Varma Malik]
When you say "their career", does it mean Sonik Omi represents a duo
like K-A, S-J or L-P? You are right, when I go back to my
radio-fanatic days, I remember having heard this 'giit likhaa hai
Varma Malik ne, sa.ngiit se sa.nwaaraa hai Sonik Omi ne' or 'dhun
banaa_ii hai Sonik Omi ne, gaane ke bol likhe hai Varma Malik ne' or
'giitkaar Varma Malik, sangiitkaar Sonik Omi' quite often, but stats
suggest otherwise. Varma Malik is missing from 'Dil Ne Phir Yaad Kiya'
and 'Mahua' -- 2 of the popular Sonik Omi films.
Yes, AFAIK Sonik and Omi are uncle and nephew (or is it the
other way around?).
-UVR.
I was under the impression they were a duo..I remember this from way back
when I used to listen to a lot of AIR. The thing that hampered their success
was maybe the selection of the movies they composed songs for. Many of them
were the Daku - Police kind or the Thakur variety set in villages etc...Add
to that the star cast was not the popular variety so the movies were not
great hits. Dharma was a hit but look at who starred in that movie...Pran,
Navin Nishchal, Anwar Hussain and Rekha (iirc).
They also didnt get opportunities to work for the then big
directors...LP/RDB/KA were ruling the roost... In my book, Sonik Omi would
be put down as the terribly unlucky kind. With a couple of big movies, they
could have made it big in Bollywood.
As to variety, they had plenty be it "Dono ne kiya...izhaar magar...mujhe
yaad raha...tuu bhool gayi" , "Dil Ne Phir Yaad Kiya" or "Isharon ko agar
samjho.. raaz ko raaz rehne do".

[I too was surprised Varma Malik was missing in DNPYK and Mahua....for I
always assumed VM/SO were a package deal]
i'll find more sonik omi songs if i have any mp3s

Late last year there was some Bollywood troupe in the US which
advertized as "featuring Sonik Omi". In their ad on Dish network they
used to show a middle aged guy in a garish silk Kurta Pajama suit with
gold jewelery singing the "Isharon ko agar samjho.. raaz ko raaz rehne
do" when they mentioned Sonik Omi. I was under the impression that the
guy was Sonik Omi. However, apparently Sonik-Omi was a uncle-nephew
jodi. Sonik, the uncle, used to be an arranger with Madan Mohan and
there was some acrimony later on because Omi claimed that lot of MM's
songs were composed by Sonik. The guy on tour last year must've been
Omi.
