Ashish Bokhil had once beautifully explained the above poem. You should
probably hunt down his original article.

Anyway, the gist of the poem lies in these lines (the best part of the song,
IMO)

in reshamii raahoo mein (OR "Main soch ke baithi huN")
Ek raah to woh hogi
Tum tak jo pahuunchtii hai..

Beautifully penned. Saying......ki raah kaisii bhi ho (slow, fast,
sharmilii, kamzor, majbuut etc. etc.) hamen kyaa lenaa dena. What
matters is...where is it destined for.

Should give you an idea of the meaning of the rest!

Well, actually Pradeep-G, sorry, Pradeep-ji, or Ashish Bokil should be
doing this job, but here's my weak attempt:

kuchh sust_qadam rastE | Some slow-paced, ambling streets, and
kuchh tEz_qadam rAhEN | Some swift-footed fast tracks

patthar ki hawElI kO | To the bungalow of stone
shIshE ke gharONdON meiN | That's housed in a house of glass,
tinkON ke nashEman tak | Till the shimmering veil of twigs
is mOD. se jAtE hAIN | From this intersection [of Life], begin
kuchh sust_qadam rastE | Some slow-paced ambling streets,
kuchh tEz_qadam rAhEN | Some nimble-footed paths

It's like Gulzar is in the payroll of the DMV and is saying:

From this intersection,
a) Reduce Speed Ahead, Speed Limit 25
b) Speed Limit 70, Minimum Speed Limit 60
