Thanks for providing the list. As you have said,
some of these artistes who left us in 2004 didn't get
mentioned in RMIM --- and some of us missed the
announcements in the media also. In particular, I didn't
get to see the news/obits about Siddharth, Laxmi Chhaya,
Kaanchan and Veena. Is Siddharth the same actor who acted
opposite Padmini Kohapure in a film of the early 80's ?
I think he was Shantaram's grandson. Wasn't there another
Siddharth who acted in the film "Baazigar" ? There was a
report that he too had passed away in the late nineties.

R.I.P.

yes the same person. In Bazigaar he was the secret admirer of Kajol
and gets to sing some lines in a song also. Acted in Vansh also
(the original role was done by Karthick in tamil movie Agneenakshatram)

Surprised that he passed away. Shouldn't be lot older than me.

Sorry guys; got mixed up about dates on Pandhari Bai,Gangadhar and
Gunasingh.

Another notable Kannada actor who died in 2004 was Lokesh. Does
Ramkrishna Hegde (ex-CM of karnataka) count as a film personality,
given that he acted in two kannada films (Marana Mrudanga and some
other)?

Yeps,Jayshree who acted in Shakuntla (1943) and Dr. Kotnis Ki Amar
Kahani(1946), Didi(?) etc. was Rajshri's mother and V. Shantaram's
second wife. I guess Jayshree and rajshree teamed for V. Shantaram's
Subah Ka Tara (1954).

I think the list provided by Rawat did include
Soundarya (or Saundarya), the star of "Sangamam"
and other films, who passed away in a tragic
helicopter accident.

Another name that needs to be included is that of
Jikki (G.P. Krishnaveni), well-known singer of the
South who, amongst so many other popular songs, crooned
the original "kuhu kuhu" number from the Telugu
version of "Suvarna Sundari". Her name was suggested to
me by an RMIMer through private e-mail. I have a faint
recollection that her passing away was reported in our NG
by another RMIMer (probably Ganti~garu).

I would request "Shree" to furnish some more info about
Gangadhar and Rajanand. These names don't seem to ring
a bell. Were they from the Marathi film industry ?

I think so, yes. But the main focus was on
Rajesh Khanna and Shabana Azmi. I remember the
poster of the film where the other pair (Siddarth
and Padmini) were shown jumping high in the air.
I think the song "Mausam, mausam...." was filmed
on the latter two.

I guess I got too finger-happy about listing Soundarya again.

Gangadhar was a Kannada actor who acted in films like Gejje Pooje and
Sharapanjara, amongst others. He passed away in 2003. Here's some more
info I found on the web : http://tinyurl.com/4w8af

Rajanand was another kannada actor. Some of the his films I remember
are Mayura and Eradu Kanasu. Here's some info on him :

Another veteran to pass away in 2004 was the choreographer Udupi
Jayaram.
