There are quite a few songs which have been sung by two singers (or more) in
a movie. I remember a few. Here they are

Kuch na kaho, kuch bhi na kaho (1942 ALS)
Lata and Kumar sanu

Bhohut pyar karte hain tumko sanam ( Saajan)
Kumar sanu and Anuradha

hame aur jeenye ki chahat na hoti agar tum na hote (Agar tum na hote)
Lata and Kishore.

Off hand I remember only these songs.

Please add to the list.

There is a song sung by Kishore as well as Rafi and only kishore's version
became very popular. It is a song in the late 60s or early 70s in which
kishore has done yodelling. I cannot remember which song is that. Please
some one (Kishore or Rafi fan) can help me with this.

Bye,
Till then have fun.

Does anybody remember that there was hazaar "rap"
in the beginning of the song "Are ja re hat natkhat"
from Navarang? Was this the first rap??
Anyways, here are the lyrix:

Atak atak chatpat panaghat par
chatak matak ek naar naveli
zurimuri chali nit zuri chali
churi mori mukh mori
musalayee alabeli
kankari gali mein maari
kankari Kanhaiye ne pakadi baah us(/r?)ki atakheli
bhari pichakari maari sa ra ra ra ra ra ra ra
bholi pari haari boli na na na na na na na na

Are ja re hat natkhat na choo re mera ghoonghat
palat ke doongi aaj tujhe gaali re
mujhe samjhon na tum bholi-bhali re...

I am sure there would be millions of songs of this type, basically too many to make a listing of. But on the lyrics part, not many of them differ in lyrics in the two versions, only a few songs would have different lyrics.

Another thing which has been discussed before is which version appeals more to music-lovers. Does sex dominate that...I mean I tend to like the male version more than
the female version in most of the cases. Infact Jasjit had also raised a point that it
is easier to remember the lyrics of male-sung songs, which was the reason for so many
women rmimers in the honours for the aasha quiz (though Jasjit goofed up on that).
The point is which version appeals more to different class of listeners.

Just as an example, I love the female version of Na Tum Hamen Jano (Suman Kalyanpur)
more than the Hemant Da version. And there might be a few more of this types...but
otherwise...da males are da best.
Signing off...
Joshua

The above is a joke, right? If so it's a rather nice one (in rather poor
spirit though --- poor KK must be turning in his grave).

If you meant it seriously, well...what can I say. Opinions differ and perhaps
none more sharply than yours and mine on this subject. The above song was sung
quite brilliantly by KK (and I rate it among his better songs). One can (at
least I felt I could) feel the `dard' conveyed by his voice. I haven't been
one of PS's admirers and to say the least, and liked KK's version *much*,
much, better.

But again, you may have been joking (or you probably put zero in the
denominator instead of the numerator --- or someplace else --- while coming up
with this figure of infinity ;-))

It was "Pyaar Jhukta NahiN" with mithun chakravarti and padmini kolhapure,
and that irritating boy wearing a "super duper" sweater. Most of the other
songs of this movie became very popular when the movie came out but
are now largely forgotten. (not a single one of them has made it to
the ITRANS songbook.) Other songs were
"tumhe apna saathi banane se pehle, meri jaan mujhko bahut sochna hai"
"chaahe laakh toofan aaye.....mil ke naa hoNge judaa, aa kasam kha le"

I remember another song from an old Hindi movie which
would qualify for a rap. It was sung by Ashok kumar
and the lyrics were like:

naav chali, neena ki naani ki naav chali....

there was another similar song in the same movie, also
sung by ashok kumar.

Ravi.

My RAM indicates it is from "Pyar Jhookata Nahi" *ing Mithun during his *ing
period. Sometime around 1984-85. Check the Chronology.

In movie "Pyar Ka Mausam" (*ing Shashi Kapoor, Asha Parekh) the
title song "Ni Sultana Re Pyar ka Mausam Aaaya" was sung by both
Rafi & Kishore. I don't know if that's the song you are referring
to. Anyway Rafi & Kishore both were great singers in their own
right. Why one has to be better than the other. OOh human nature!
we can't escape from it!
