I read in India Today that Juhi Chawla is the #1 Actress. While there is no precise measure of who is the best actor/actress the result boils down to who is more popular who has more hits and perhaps who charges the highest prive, i mean price.
Well if she is #1 then she is #1 but personally I think she deserves to be limited to those roles of sisters and bhabhi's. She can't act as well not does she have that kind of appeal that MAdhuri Dixit has. Only Madhuri can do songs like Ek do teen and Choli ke peeche and even Dhak Dhak kar ne laga from Beta.
To my mind Madhuri is #1 and Sridevi #1, guess its a tie there but Juhi...........#__0

I would disagree with that.
There was atime when Madhuri could have topped any female actress. But
not any more. I used to like her a lot in the days of Tezaab, Beta etc etc,
but recently I am beginning to think that she is all body and no acting.
On the other hand, Juhi Chawla, in her early days as an actress also
lacked acting ability. But recently with films like HUM HAIN RAHI PYAR
KAI, DARR and AAINA she has proved to be a much better actress than the
likes of Madhuri and Sri Devi.
Juhi has also played roles which are popular with the whole family
watching the film. In HHRPK she played a cute runaway teenager, and in
AAINA she played a sister who was always treated as second best. These
roles a whole family of viewers will be able to get a likeness to very
quickly. Compare this with Madhuri - who played a dancer in Khalnayak ...
which only the male adult can take a fancy to in a film audience!
I could mention her other roles..among them Tezaab etc.
Summing this all up, I am NOT saying that Juhi is Number #1. As someone
mentioned in a previous posting, being no. 1 means having a couple of box
office hits and suddenly you are pronounced no. 1 by the media.
In my opinion Juhi will remain up there with the best for some years to
come!
Give me a bit of Juhi any day ;:-)
