That was a good news! Seems like filmfare for once has actually tapped
talent not by going thro' the statistical figures of sales, but by
recognizing its quality! I mean, it would have been really unfair if anyone
else but Kavita Krishnamurthy had got the award for best female playback.
Her rendition of "pyar huaa chupke se " was just too brilliant to have
gone unnoticed. RD has managed to, atleast to some extent, revive the jadoo
which some of his brilliant Asha compositions have.
As for the other awards which 1942 got, two others probably had no
competiters even close to them i.e. one is the editing by Renu Saloja ( I
think she is the one!) which helped making certain scenes really effective.
And the other one is the choreography award. I have'nt seen a song picturised
more beautifully than 'kuch na kaho' in last atleast 5 yrs.
Well hopefully filmfare will continue the tradition !

1994 was the year of 1942-A LOVE STORY
-----------------------------------------

While HUM AAPKE HAIN KOUN was 1994's biggest hit film and perhaps
the biggest hit film of all-time. 1942-A LOVE STORY was the most
critically acclaimed film of the year.

After winning the most SCREEN-PANASONIC AWARDS with 7 awards compared
to 6 for HAHK. 1942-ALS has also won the most FILMFARE Awards by winning
about 8 awards compared to 3 by HAHK.

>Jackie Shroff bagged the best supporting actor award for his role
>in the film, 1942 A Love Story, and
>Vidhu Vinod Chopra's 1942 A Love Story swept the music awards and
>late music director Rahul Dev Burman was posthumously given the
>best music director award for the film.
>
>The best lyricist award went to Javed Akthar for the song "Ek Ladki
>Ko Dekha" from the same film. Both, the best male and female
>playback singers, were won by 1942 A Love Story. Kumar Sanu and
>Kavitha Krishnamurthy won the awards for songs "Ek Ladki Ko Dekha"
>and "Pyar Hua Chup Ke Se" respectively. The film also won several
>technical awards.

The technical awards are given for best story, screenplay, dialogue,
cinematography, sound recording, art direction, editing, choreography
and action.

1942-ALS probably has won the awards for best cinematography, editing,
sound recording and art direction. Does anybody have the complete list
of this year's FILMFARE Awards ?

By sweeping the music categories, 1942-ALS has become the only film
(along with AASHIQUI) to win all the music awards.

I wonder how many other films have won at least 8 FILMFARE Awards.
