We all know the Lata never recorded any songs with OP.

I was wondering if there were any music directors who composed after
(to keep it simple, lets say) 1952 and composed for at least 5 films,
but never used Rafi.

While you are at it, let me have your response (to the Q above) for
Kishore, Manna Dey, and Mukesh too.

Kishore was never used by Vasant Desai, IIRC.

Going a bit beyond your basic questions, some 10 years ago I had compiled a list
of MD's who had composed for Lata but not Asha and vice-versa. I am posting the
list below for the purposes of information. This does not have a qualifier for
minimum number of movies etc. This information was put together from Vishwas
Nerurkar's books on the two sisters. Since Lata's data ends at 1989 or so, there
might be a few names that are incorrect(haven't Dilip Sen-Sameer Sen composed
for her?) Comments/corrections are welcome

Interesting that neither Bipin nor Babul by themselves
picked Lata or composed for her. Did they use both
sisters in the films they worked on together?

Also, too many names on both lists include
composers who are rare instances as partners, but
have enough songs with both sisters as independent
composers and should not belong to the list (e.g.,
Chitragupt-SN Tripathi)

Vasant Ramchandra do appear on both lists, although
the names are spelt differently. Jagjit has worked
with Lata on non-film albums, right?

Perhaps additional QC is called for before you
can declare the wars open.

One possibility that comes to mind is Raghunath Seth. Someone can
verify, but at the moment I can't recall a Rafi song for him. Kanu
Roy and AR Quereshi may be contenders as well...

Ketan mentioned Vasant Desai as never having used Kishore and I think
the same holds true for S N Tripathi.

Top posting:

Looks like most of the composers that worked only with Asha did not have a
much of a career in the industry.

Kishore Kumar (composer) didn't compose anything for Rafi.

Kanu Roy seems like a possibility for a non-Rafi user, but
for AR Qureshi, thanks to the incessant efforts put in by one
VSRawat, the ISB contains this song:

And another song comes to mind, an early Rafi number "Das Na Jaaen
Tujhko Zulfen Kaaliyaan" from a film whose name I can't remember - the
accompaniment is basically a "dagga" and some violins.

IIRC, Rafi sang for Kishore the composer in either "Badhti ka naam dadhi" or
"Chalti Ka Naam Zindagi".

There is an incident that is frequently mentioned that when Kishore went to pay
Rafi his fees for the song, Rafi turned it down, saying "Yo bro, we live in the
same hood, 'nowhatiamsayin". I think what Rafi meant to say was "Hum to ek ki
gali ke rehne waale hai", but one can hardly expect a guy with a squeaky loser
voice like that to speak properly now can we?

PS: (gratuitous Rafi slam, is just to make sure the weapons are well oiled in
case of emergencies and all that rot)

Oh yeah? Well we all know, uh, KK was trying to pay off Rafi to,
uh....not beat him up...yeah, that's it!

A much more memorable Mukesh song is from Kinare Kinare
jab sataataa hai Gam-e-dil to mai.n ha.Ns letaa huu.N

The same film featured Manna De's
chale jaa rahe hai.n muhabbat ke maare.

Jaidev completed an unusual quartet of solos by using Rafi
(terii tasaviir bhii tujh jaisii) and Talat (dekh lii terii khudaaii)
in the same film. He also used Lata, Asha & Sudha in
the same film.

I think Hemant's Biwi aur Makaan featured Mukesh's voice.
In fact, the film featured all of Mukesh, Rafi, Manna De, Talat
and Hemant himself.

1952 and has done more than 5 films.

Sorry I should have replied to Vish's question directly. His question,
as it reads, allows ARR, Reshammiya, etc. as answers.
