Punjabi Film: LACHHI - Who was the MD / S Mohinder or H R Behl ?
=====================================================

On most of LP / Tape inlay cards, HMV has been listing S. Mohinder as
the composer. However, there are two very popular songs from this
film, tunes of which were later used in film: DOST (1954). The
MD for DOST was: Hans Raj Behl. The original Punjabi Film songs
and their equivalent Hindi Film songs are:

1 PUNJABI / Meri Lagti Kise Na Veelkhi / Shamshad

HINDI / Dil Deke Bahut Pachtaye / Madhubala Jhaveri

2 PUNJABI / Jagwala Mela Yaaro Thodi Der Da / Rafi

HINDI / Aaye Bhi Akela, Jaaye Bhi Akela / Talat

unrelated note: the tune was again used for a non-film
Punjabi song: Machhiwade wich baitha / Prakash
and Surinder Kaur

Music Director using his prior composition to create a new song is
done many times and is an acceptable practice. But, copying
another composer's tunes (not one, but two) is certainly not done.

I think the MD for the 2 Punjabi songs was: Hans Raj Behl and due
to an error made many years ago, HMV keeps listing the MD as
S. Mohinder. Can someone, who has seen the film or has the
video tape re-confirm the MD's name. IndianScreen Com lists the
MD for all songs as: Hans Raj Behl

Two more songs of LACHHI are also available (Nale Lambi Te Nali Kali /
Lata and Kali Kangi Naal / Lata + Rafi) for which MD is listed
as: S. Mohinder

Thanks Urzung Saheb.

I had made corrections for 2 songs of LACHHI and will do so
for all other songs too.

I also have the two songs # 15 & 16 and like them a lot. Will make
changes for Artist name >> to >> Zeenat Begum

Do you have any other info about these (e.g.: the approx. year) and
any other recording source. The recording quality of IndianScreen
Tape (issued under ASC label) is not good and I have been trying to
get a better recording, but no success (may be because I was listing
them under: Munnawar Sultana)

Thanks

These two and another one: KushiyaaN daa mii.nh vassyaa,
afaik, belong to pre 1947 period. There are a few other Non
Film songs of her but not available. I posted the lyrics
of Khushiyaa daa... more than a year back from memory.
