WOULD YOU BE HAPPY WITH A USELESS REPLY AS THIS ONE?

Abassi saab:
Your posting seems so, so hard to read - punctuation marks not followed by
spaces, etc., take a heavy toll on us poor souls' eyes. Putting everything
in uppercase does not give your query more urgency, rather discourages many
simply from even reading it. Besides, it is a normal courtesy to write the
standard way.
As for your query itself, my two cents on it: Until a film's
soundtrack/album is released, it remains the property of the producer who
fiannces the entire project. That includes the songs already recorded, and
perhaps even the songs written for, composed/tuned but not yet recorded.
An example is the soundtrack of Chaand Grahan, music composed by the late
Jaidev. . Some of the songs for the film were recorded back in 1973. A
couple were even released and enjoyed air time then. But the CD of the
film, including a freshly recorded song (composed by a different MD), was
released only in 1997.
There may also be instances where a song has been written and recorded for a
particular project, but not used for it. It is very vague who has the
rights in this case - the producer, the lyricist, the MD?
Sorry, this is not the answer you wanted, but it is the best I can do. It
is neither positive, but is also not negative. And there is no one on RMIM
who is trying to "entertain" only the old timers! :)
Happy Listenings.

Film 'Musafir' (1984) is released--at least, it is available
for rental on VHS. It is a Jabbar Patel film, with Nasirddin
Shah and Rekha. The audio quality of the videotape is decent.
In fact, we had used the video as source to include a song
from the soundtrack when we were preparing the tape of rare
songs of Asha for an RMIM meet some years ago. It is a lovely
semi-classical composition
saavan saavarii a.Nkhiyaa.N chuum ke phir jaaye, phir jaaye
We perhaps needn't have bothered. The song seemed to have been
ignored by all--by old-timers because of its period and by the
RDB sheep because they have wool in their ears so far as
melodious songs are concerned.
A question regarding your #12 above: which 'Alibaba 40 Chor'
is this one? The 1980 film 'Alibaba Aur 40 Chor' is very
much released and available--audio, video .. name it. The
lyrics, however, are by Anand Bakshi.

I found it at a video rental place near Washington, DC, USA.
