I came across this Gazal by Shakeel Badayuni and it reminded of a Rafi song
which also ended in "..... kar baithe". I can't remember the song. Will
some please help?

The song I have in mind is NOT "tumase izhaar-e-haal kar baiThe" from Mere
Mehboob. The kafiyaa AND the radeef are the same for the song I had in
mind. The Gazal is:

ha.ngaamaa-e-Gam se ta.ng aakar izhaar-e-musarrat kar baiThe
mashahuur thii apanii zi.ndaadilii daanistaa sharaarat kar baiThe

koshish to bahot kii hamane magar paayaa na Gam-e-hastii kaa mafar
viiraanii-e-dil jab had se ba.Dii ghabaraa ke mohabbat kar baiThe

nazaro.n se na karate pursish-e-Gam Khaamosh hii rahanaa bahatar thaa
diivaano ko tumane chhe.D diyaa wallaah qayaamat kar baiThe

har chiiz nahii.n ek markaz par ek roz idhar ik roz udhar
nafarat se na dekho dushman ko shaayad ye mohabbat kar baiThe

Hi Nita,
The Gazal reminds me of
"koi kehde kehde kehde zamane se jaake
ki ham ghabraake muhabbat kar baithe", sung by Asha Bhonsle in 'Baharen
phir bhi aayengi'. I am not sure if Rafi sang it too. If there is a
Rafi version.

Is this Asha song written by Shakeel?

I don't think there is a Rafi version. But anyhow, this is not the song I had in mind. It is so maddening... I can almost hear Rafi singing the song.... and the only thing I can remember is the refrain...".............kar baiThe" I hope someone can help....I can't get any work done :-((

No, Anjaan is the lyricist, guessing from the data I have for the other
Asha solo in the film "woh hanske mile humse hum pyaar samajh baiThe" and
the Rafi solo "aap ke haseen rukh pe aaj naya noor hai".
