Clarification about lyricist of Bheegi Raat (1965) song

All the songs are written by Majrooh for the movie,
but this song by Rafi is credited to Sahir, though
the tandem song by Lata is credited to Majrooh.

Is this an error, or a fact according to Geet Kosh.

Wonder how the fact missed the attention of

At one out of my town gathering once, a local talent sang 'rahte the
kabhii unke dil meN' and introduced it as a beuatiful melodious ghazal
composed by Hrithik's grandfather (for the benefit of the youngsters
in the crowd) Roshan and written by inimitable 'Sahir Ludhianvi'. I
tried to talk to her afterwards that it was indeed Majrooh who wrote
it, she merely shrugged arrogantly as if I didn't know what I was
talking about. To each 'her 'own I thought, and left it at that.

i have seen a lot of people of the young generation supremely self confident about their limited knowledge. and most of it is thanks to the web. so she must have made a websearch and decided that it is sahir.

i recently tried to dissuade a youngster from playing 'tu hai mera prem devta' while referring to the restored uday shankar classic kalpana. but he said he had done a websearch. he went on air and said the cannes festival was screening the restored 1960 uday shankar classic kalpana and played tu hai mera prem devta in the background. it is a good thing that uday shankar is not alive and zohra sehgal cannot see. !

I thought she made the same error you allude to, i.e. if it is Roshan,
it must be Sahir. And there is some resemblance between:

barsoN ke sulgate tan man par ashkoN ke to chhiiNte de na sake
tapte hue dil ke zaKhmoN par barse bhii to aNgaaroN kii tarah

AND

Sahir's

tapte dil par yuuN girtii hai terii naz'r se pyaar kii shabam

BTW, in Raaz sahib's post, it should be 'saaGar' and 'GuNchaa'. i.e.
'G' sound of 'Gam'

To add to the discussion of increasingly ignorant people claiming to be experts on Hindi films courtesy the web, I have always wanted to know who added the cheap English words 'A Poem of Love' to the official title of Yash Chopra's classic Daag (1973). I cringe in sheer disgust when I read the title as 'Daag: A Poem of Love' everywhere on the web, including Wikipedia and IMDB. The film's censor certificate clearly reads the title only as 'Daag'.

Similarly, some idiot changed the title of Kabhi Kabhie (1976) to 'Kabhi Kabhie: Love is Life'. This film's certificate says only 'Kabhi Kabhie'. Yet another maha-idiot changed 'Satyam Shivam Sundaram' to 'Satyam Shivam Sundaram: Love Sublime'.

Is it too late to correct all those maha-mistakes on the web, or we should just feel sorry for the coming generations?

I do not know about other films, the film posters of Daag 1973 itself
had the byline A Poem of Love. Use Google for Daag Images to see some
of the old posters and publicity material.

I do not know about the other films. but recently saw satyam shivam sundaram credits. and at the end of the introductory raj kapoor speech - the screen shows the title satyam shivam sundaram and at the bottom love sublime appears.

will have to see kabhi kabhie to see what happens when the title appears.

I have seen images of some of Daag (1973) posters on the web. They show the words 'A Poem of Love', but that was just a publicity text restricted to the posters only. I do not recall having seen it anywhere else, including film magazines, film's ads for local cinemas, and the film's certificated. Ditto Kabhi Kabhie (1976).

As for SSS, I saw the film years ago in theater and do not recall having seen the line 'Love Sublime', as VRK points out. I also never saw it in magazines and newspapers. In fact, the film's title was artistically designed with sun in the background of the top-right corner. If Raj Kapoor never bothered to add those cheap English words to the film's title then anywhere, who gave the surfers the right to cheapen the film's title on the web?

It pains me to see that these classic films now sit alongside such low-grade and utterly sickening films like Don: The Chase Begins, Khamoshi: The Musical, Lucky: No Time for Love, Don 3: The Creativity Ends, and countless other such cheap titles without which the Hindi film industry now cannot survive.
