I would appreciate if anyone could help me out...

Here are the lyrics:
kahin bekhayaal ho kar, yoonhi chhoo liyaa kisi ne
kayi KHAAB (YES, believe it or not, the Pronunciation Police, Rafi actually
says "khaab," not "khwaab," and repeatedly too! And does that make him a bad
singer? Anyway, to get back to the point....
kahin bekhayaal ho kar yoon hi chhoo liyaa kisi ne
kayi KHAAB dekh daale yahaan meri bekhudi ne....
1. mere dil mein kaun hai tu, ke huaa jahaan andhera
vahin sau diye jalaaye tere rukh ki chaandni ne
kai KHAAB....
2. kabhi us pari kaa koocha kabhi is hasin ki mehfil
mujhe dar badar phiraaya mere dil ki saadgi ne
kai KHAAB....
3. hai bhalaa sa naam uska main abhi se kyaa bataaoon
kiyaa beqaraar aqsar mujhe ek aadmi ne
kai KHAAB....
4. arey mujhpe naaz vaalo yeh nayaa zaman (?) diyaa kyon
hai yahi qaram tumhaara to mujhe na doge jeene
kai KHAAB....
It's an exquisite song, but who the hell wrote the lyrics? They sure leave a
lot to be desired.
Enjoy,
Roopa
The lyricist is Majrooh Sultanpuri :-)

Reporter (to Mahatma Gandhi): Mr. Gandhi, what do you think of Western
Civilization?
Gandhi: I think it would be a good idea.
Yeah, lyrics kaafi paidal hain and surprisingly they are by Majrooh. Usually,
when it comes to GHazals, Majrooh is great. However, I do find the above sher
(#1) kinda nice. The song, as you mentioned, is truly exquisite and must be
one of Dada Burman's best GHazals.... and Rafi Sahab's rendition is out of this
world! Ekdum mast andaaz ke saath gaya hai and it suits dAnand perfectly. This
song, along with "Likha hai teri aankhon me...." is my fav. from Teen Devian.

Lines for the day:
Waqt insaan pe aisa bhi kabhi aata hai
Raah me chhoRke saaya bhi chala jaata hai
Din bhi niklega kabhi raat ke aane pe na ja
Meri nazron ki taraf dekh zamaane pe na ja
Shewan Rizwi in "Dil ki aawaaz bhi sun mere fasaane pe na ja...." (Humsaaya)

Did you forget Rafi's "aise to na dekho"? I thought that to be not only the
best song in the film, but one of the most SPECTACULAR Rafi songs ever. A *
showcase Rafi song: the smoothness, the ease, the strength, the confidence,
simply unbelievable. Not to speak of the dazzling vigour of the composition.
Both the mukhda and the stanzas are so crisply composed.
Then "uf kitni thandi hai ye rut" is also quite good. Kishore's voice sounds
wonderfully intimate. By the way, don't the first two lines of the stanza
remind you almost exactly of another SD song from Ishq Par Zor Nahin, "tum
mujhse door chale jaana na"? I'm thinking of the first two lines of the stanza
of the latter: "main thi anjaan ji ki baaton se///aanjaani pyaar ki baraaton
se." Seems as if SD was doing an associative thing there. *
Come to think of it, "aise to na dekho" has rather strange lyrics. I'm not sure
I understand all of them; the words are simple enough but the way they're put
together is kind of cryptic. But I like the sound of them. Unusual and quite
visually evocative.
