Sahir's Non-Film Poetry in Films: A Query

Folks:

I have been wanting to know all film lyrics that Sahir had actually
penned previously as non-film poetry. I used to know a few of them,
but now only 'kabhi kabhi mere dil mein' (Kabhi Kabhie, 1976) comes to
mind. Which are others? Did he pen 'milti hai zindagi mein mohabbat
kabhi kabhi' (Aankhen, 1968) also as non-film poetry? Thanks.

I can think of a few:
- 'Chakle' was used in Pyasa, and so were a few others. The highly
persianized line of Chakle -"Sanaa Khwaan-e-taqdees-e-mashriq kahan
hain" - was simplified to "Jinhe naaz hai hind par wo kahan hai" in
the film.
- Meri Mehboob Kahin Aur Mila Kar in Ghazal was also his non-film
poetry.
- Chalo Ek Baar Phir Se from Gumrah

These are the ones I remember as well. In addition, here are some that
were published in the book Talkhiyaa.N and then found a home in Hindi
movies:

Incidentally, I was surprised to learn other day that Sahir wrote a
parody of famous Pradeep song - dekh tere sa.nsaar kii haalat. His
version was - dekh tere bhagawaan kii haalat. (http://smriti.com/hindi-

Of course, Pradeep's songs have been most popular with parody-writers
- including second year students in all the hostels. Even I have my
own version -

As others have stated, pick up a copy of Talkhiyaan and you'll find a
number of his film songs in their "literary" forms in it. I do not
recall "milti hai zindagi meN muhabbat kabhi kabhi" in it, though I
could very well be mistaken.

Thanks, Aditya, for the above link. It is great. I think I saw
Animesh Sahab's name somewhere among the credits for the website - did
he create this website?

To give credit where it's due, the link was mentioned by Rahul, not
Aditya.

And the website itself is the handiwork not of Animesh saahib, but of
ALUPer/RMIMer Amit Malhotra, a self-described Sahir fanatic and an
aspiring Urdu poet himself.

One more that I remembered today is 'mehfil se uth jaane waalo' that
was used in Dooj Ka Chand (1964). Years ago I read somewhere
(probably in Shama magazine) that Sahir wrote it after Amrita Preetam,
whom he loved then, abruptly left a meeting with him and his mother
for the purpose of marriage proposal. However, the song from the film
is more like an average film song - very un-Sahir. Did he write
something else (as non-poetry) and only the first couplet was used in
the film?
