Ustad Aashish Khan, son of the legendary Ustad Ali Akbar Khan, is a sarod artist of international stature. He has worked with Pandit Ravi Shankar on films such as Satyajit Ray's Apur Sangsar and Parash Pathar, and Sir Richard Attenborough's Gandhi. Besides his virtuosity as a traditional sarod master, he has been a pioneer in of fusion music, having cooperated with such western musicians as John Barham, George Harrison, Ringo Starr, and Eric Clapton.
Ustad Zakir Hussain, well-known in both East and West, is hailed as one of the greatest percussionists in the world. As a classical tabla virtuoso of the highest order, Zakir is the favorite accompanist for many of India's greatest classical musicians and dancers. He is also widely considered a chief architect of the contemporary world music movement, recognized for his world music collaborations including Shakti, which he founded with John McLaughlin and L. Shankar, the Diga Rhythm Band, Making Music, Planet Drum with Mickey Hart. Zakir has done recordings and performances with artists as diverse as George Harrison, Joe Henderson, Van Morrison, Jack Bruce, Tito Puente, Pharoah Sanders, Billy Cobham, the Hong Kong Symphony and the New Orleans Symphony. Zakir will provide tabla accompaniment for Ustad Aashish Khan.
