He composed some beautiful songs for Dak Bangla 1947.
Then he appeared to have vanished altogather. What
happened to him ?

khaaye baithe hain, hum apne seene pe tincture lagaye baithe hain" by
Shamshad and S. Balbir,if anybody has this, please e mail to me and

Sir,
There are many many such one film star can be added in this list.
Like Daan Singh of My Love.
There must be union or groupism during those early phase and hence
talented musicians could not get space what they were derserving.
I give one more exemple of MD Kanu Roy; talented music director only
managed to get lower budget films of Basu Bhattacharya.
I would like to add MD Mukul Roy also.
This should be from Daak Babu (1954), a Dhani Ram composition.
Regards
Abbasi
Urzungjee:
Do you(or anyone) know that MD: Naresh Bhattacharya has composed TWO
SONGS for the 1947 film MEERA; a solo & a solo/chorusby
M.Subbulaxmi !!!

Here are some facts about film Dak Bangla and Ujala :
"Similarly, the tune of the song Mohay mera bachpna, in Kajal
(produced by Malikka Pukhraj in Bombay) was invented by my brother
Khurshid Anwar, but was passed on to music director Ghulam Muhammad by
Madhok. The tune of another song, which Khurshid Anwar composed for
the film Parwana, and was not included in it, was also given to the
music director of the film, dak Bangla by Madhok. Later, Khurshid
Anwar used the same composition - Jaab yad kisi ki aye - in pakistani
film Jhoomar, which was a remake of Parwana".
This excerpts are from an article written by Saeed Malik and
available
at Dr.Surjit's w/site.

I don't know the answer to your question. I'd just like to point out
that he is credited as co-MD in a later movie - B. R. Chopra's Shole
(1953), along with Dhaniram. The HMV LP "In Memoriam - Hemant Kumar,
vol. 3" credits NareshB as the sole composer of the Hemant Kumar song
from this movie 'ai dil tu kahin le chal'. I noticed that some songs
from this movie have also been uploaded on youtube recently.

He had also composed the evergreen bhajans of Mukesh
1. Tune raat bitaai soye ke
2. Sur ki gati main kya jaanoon
3. Pitu maat sahaayak swaami sakhaa

Thanks for the info. I would like to know the year in
which these compositions were released.

The info is quite helpful. Thanks.

Hello janaab:
Though I have all the 78s of Meera('47); still, you can refer the GK-
II and come over to the page of MEERA('47).
Song nos : 14; 17 & 8.
The peculiarity of the North Indian styles' of composition is very
clearly remniscent., if you listen to them raptly.

This is unbelievable lyric "hum apne seene pe tincture lagaye baithe
hain ", surely not Mirza Ghalib. I wonder what kind of tincture is
referred to here.
In my youth, when I had bad throat, the surgery in India used to give
Tincture of Iodine, which worked like magic.
Recently I had bad throat and I went to see my doctor in UK, and I
mentioned Tincture of Iodine as a possible medicine. She said that
this kind of medicine was no longer prescribed and she would be struck
off medical rgister if she did this. Sorry about the diversion from
music, as this word brought back some memories.
MA.
Was n't there another kind of tincture which was a poor man's sharaab?
One used to hear, "fulaane ne TiNkchar pii pii kar apne. jigar kaa
satyaanaas kar diyaa hai. bas chand dinoN hii kaa mihmaan hai!"
Naseer
Sorry -kisi ke teer e nazar-the movie is-daak babu and not daak bangla
Naseer Bhai there are many tinctures in medicl practice,tr iodine,tr
cardamon co and there is one tr benjoin which is used to seal fresh
wounds which is being refered to in this song-
"kisi ke teer e nazar ae ji dil pe khaaye baithe hain
hum apne seene pe tincture lagaaye baithe hail
1-hua hai haiza humein ae ji aapke khayalon mein
maro na humpe maro jaake aspatalon mein
mareez e ishq yahan dum dabaye baithe hain
2-shaadi mein sab kuchh khaaiyo ae ji chun chun khaaiyo maans
kisi ke teer e nazar mat khaaiye e ji hoga satyanaash
duniya ujaad di meri duniya ujaad di
teri gali ke kutton ne dhoti hee phaad di
hoti rahegi silai tamam raat
gali mein pyar ki gardan kataye baithe hain

Tincture Benzoin
Afzal
It looks that these lyricists were no fools. They could identify the
problem from the symptoms, and in some cases prescribe the likes of
Tinctures. Remarkable.

I looked at the stats for these non-film bhajans on Mukesh's 'Raam
Kare So Hoye' album (1987-cassette). It says that 'tune raat
gavaaii''s music is composed by Murli Manohar Swarup. 'sur ki gati'
and 'pitu matu' are only composed by NareshB. Unfortunately, the stats
don't mention the year. Based on my hearing Mukesh's voice sounds to
be from late 40s to early 50s time frame in these songs. Mukesh Geet
Kosh might throw some more light on the release year of these two
songs.
