Hello Sanskrit lovers,

As some of you already know, I have started ITRANSing my 1000-odd
strong collection of Sanskrit Subhaashitaas. I had been struggling with my
sysadmin for some diskspace to install ITRANS, and it seemed that I was not
going to get it. Hence the effort had started with me transliterating the
subhaashitas and sending the script to Niranjan Pedanekar, and him running
it through itrans and attaching it to his homepage.

However, there is good news now. I have finally got some extra diskspace
from our computing center, and also found someone who does not use his
account as much and is willing to donate all his diskspace for this
purpose.

So now, I am going to install ITRANS. Unfortunately, I am a Unix bozo.
which is to be translated as - I tried installing itrans, but could not
succeed. I need someone to help me through the steps. The way I think is
best is me calling someone who knows how this stuff is done and him or her
guiding me through the steps.

Currently I have unzippped all the files, and tried to run the "make" but
it has failed, and I have no idea what changes I need to make in the
makefile.

If any of you who have done this before are willing to spend about half an
hour on the phone helping me see this through, I shall appreciate it
deeply.

Regards,

- kedar
