The other day I got to listen to a song in Tamil which was exactly like Aye
zindagi gale laga le.
I wish to know if the Tamil is original or a copy. Can anyone please name
the song and film so I can listen to again.
Thanks,
Arty
The tamil film is the "Moonram Pirai" (also written Moondram Pirai or
Moondrampirai). The tamil film was made before the Hindi version (by
the same team). Music by Ilayaaraja.

I dont think Aye Zindagi was recycled from Moondram Pirai..
have seen the original long time back and I think Aye Zindagi was not
there.. I have heard that IR did a fresh song for Sadma which he also
used in a film titled "Thambiku endha oru" at the same time..
Can any IR follower confirm?
btw IR and Gulzar together coming once again this year for yet
untilted film by debutant director Ajoy Verma.. IR has chosen Roop
Kumar Rathod to sing romantic poem "Mujhko bas itne se kaam pe rakh
lo"..

The "Moonram Pirai" song is "Poongaatru Pudhidhaanadhu", (well) sung
by Yesudas. I believe the situation and tempo are similar for this and
"Ae Zindagi" are similar, though the songs are not identical. Yes, the
Tamil came first. Another Yesudas song from this movie, "Kanne
Kalaimaane", was directly imported into the Hindi "Sadma" as "Surmayi
Ankhiyon Men".

The two songs "aye zindagi" and "Poongaataru" are not similar barring
(interlude of the train sequence) but the song I was refering to ("En
vazhvile-SPB") from "Thambikku Endha Ooru" is exactly same to Aye
Zindagi..

Going by the years of release of the two films, I would agree with
Pavan that Aye Zindagi was originally created for Sadma (1983) and
then repeated by Ilaiyaraja in Thambikku Endha Ooru (1984).
