Hi!
Which movie is the song 'Aei dil, ab kahin le ja, na kisi ka mai,
na koi mera' by Hemant Kumar, from? There is another song from the
movie 'Maaya' which goes as 'Aei dil, kahan teri manzil, na koi deepak
hai, na koi taara hai' for which Preetham pointed out that the singer
is not Hemant Kumar but Djighen Mukherjee. (Music: Salil Chowdhary)
Any more info on this one?

Also would like to thank everyone who responded to the Kora Kagaz
query!

Best Wishes,
Vandana.

I wonder why everybody spells Mr. Mukherjee's first name in this way.I do not think
that it even prononuces as something meaningful!!!His name is Dwijen if you are a
stickler for sanskrit or as bengalis have it,simply Dijen.Apart from modern songs
he was one of the principal exponents of rabindra sangeet in the heydays of the sixties along with Hemanta,Debabrata,Chinmoy,Suchitra and Kanika.

I originally started this spelling, so I shall fess up. Vandana I think was
simply quoting from my posting (I may be wrong about that though). I used
this spelling since this was the one I saw on a cassette cover (viz. the cover
of the film "Madhumati" which has a song by him). I was intrigued by the
complexity of the spelling and hence it stayed on in my mind. I presumed that
his name was pronounced "Jigen". I am not sure what the appropriate
transliteration of his name is and I shall follow you advice and use Dwijen in
future. Thanks for the correction.

Thanks, Siddhartha, for the correct pronounciation.

Yes, Preetham I was quoting from ur earlier posting, infact that
was the first time, I heard of this singer. He does sound very much
like Hemant Kumar becos I thought the song 'Aei dil kahan teri manzil'
is by Hemant Kumar. Didn't have any doubts about it. On the same
note do u know if the song 'Nain ko nain naahi milao' from 'Jhanak
jhanak payal baje' is by Hemant Kumar?
