He has written many books and articles and was a popular speaker on
stage and TV.
He learned to sing from Pt. Gajananbuwa Joshi for many years till,
legend has it, the latter told him "You speak so well - you should
become a lawyer."

It was at a Sangeet Natak Academy music workshop held at Bangalore
University that I first heard Prof. Ranade speak, as well as sing. I
came away very impressed by his musical scholarship and a sweet,
supple voice.
RIP Dr. Ranade - will miss you :(
