They are debating whether more than one tani avartanam should be
allowed in a 2.5 hr concert!

The number of tani's in a concert apart, a top flight mridangam player
appears humble to at least one poster.
Have you been to a Hindustani concert where one shishya or another of
the tabla master didn't walk up to the sound engineer every 10 minutes
or so and ask that the tabla be made louder? And this is apart from
the master himself gesturing "badhao" everytime he can catch the
engineer's eye.
